‘Weeds’ Producer Matt Salsberg Wins 2012 World Poker Tour Grand Prix De Paris

Matt Salsberg has won the €7,500 buy-in main event of this year’s World Poker Tour Grand Prix De Paris and the $515,720 that went with that honor.

This weekend’s win brings Salsberg’s live circuit record to just shy of $1 million.

Salsberg is an Executive Producer for the television series “Weeds”.  He has also produced the HBO hit “Entourage”.

Salsberg beat one of the biggest poker players on the circuit today, Dane Theo Jorgensen.

Poker Maximus II – Day 9 Recap

Day 9 of the Poker Maximus II series had three of the smaller buy-in events of the series but that doesn’t mean there still wasn’t plenty of money up for grabs. FSS Grand Finale This Weekend at Americas Cardroom

Americas Cardroom is pulling out all the stops this weekend to get more online poker players into the Punta Cana Poker Classic. The Grand Finale tournament of its Freeroll Super Series, which will see the top 500 poker players since February compete for three Punta Cana Poker Classic packages, gets underway on Saturday at 3pm ET.

Poker Pro David Benyamine Now on Board with International Stadiums Poker Tour

The Groupe Bernard Tapie funded International Stadiums Poker Tour has brought on yet another powerful spokesperson in the form of David Benyamine. 

The event, slated to begin next May, is forecast to bring in some 30,000 players from around the globe who will play from the stands online.  The field will then dwindle down to a specified number who will play live.  To date, only 3337 players have registered, a mere fraction of the 30,000 goal.

Prairie Meadow New Home to Heartland Poker Tour

Heartland Poker Tour (HPT), a major nationally-syndicated television show available on in over 100 million homes, will film two episodes of season eight at Prairie Meadows. The tournament will take place from October 12 through October 21, and will attract poker players from across the region and beyond.

The tournament has drawn 2004 World Series of Poker Main Event Champion Greg Raymer (“Fossilman”), and Lon McEachern, the renowned play-by-play official commentator for ESPN’s World Series of Poker.

Record Attendance at 2012 Borgata Poker Open: $1.9 Million Prize Pool

A record 3,705 players are taking part in this year’s Borgata Poker Open at the Atlantic City casino with the same name. 

The 10th annual tournament will feature just shy of a $1.9 million prize pool. 

Last year, a mere 1,8000 took part in the $500 buy-in tournament.

Partouche Poker Reneges on €5 Million Prize Guarantee: Claim No Such Prize Advertised

Billed as the “biggest poker tournament in Europe,” The Partouche Poker Tour (PPT), now in its 5th year, will no longer be “guaranteeing” a €5 million prize pool but has since altered that “guarantee” to €4.3 million, much to the chagrin of those already playing in the event.  This begs the question:  “What’s the point of guaranteeing something that you can’t guarantee”?

WSOPE 2012 to Include €50,000 re-entry High Roller Non-Bracelet Event

The World Series of Poker Europe (WSOPE) has announced it will be adding a €50,000 re-entry high roller non-bracelet event.

The WSOPE 2013 kicks off in Cannes, France on September 21 with the €50,000 re-entry High Roller beginning on October 2 and taking place over a three day period.

Stanley Choi Wins Macau High Stakes Challenge and $6.5 Million

Stanley Choi has won the Macau High Stakes Challenge along with $6.5 million in cash.

This was Asia’s biggest tournament ever and indeed the biggest cash tournament outside of the World Series of Poker, ranking number 10 of all live tournaments to date.  The buy-in was $1 million and featured 73 high rollers.

Josh Hale Wins 2012 WPT Legends of Poker

Josh Hale was declared the winner of the 2012 World Poker Tour Legends of Poker held at the Bicycle Casino outside of Los Angeles.  The win yielded $500,000.

Hale, a relative unknown, defeated a field of 622 players over a five day period at the $3500 buy-in event.   He also managed to beat out million dollar plus live tournament career winners Max Steinberg and Jeff Madsen, among others.

British Poker Pro Sam Trickett Becomes International Stadiums Poker Tour Ambassador

The International Stadiums Poker Tour has named British poker pro Sam Trickett as its newest ambassador.

The ISPT, conceived by Bernard and Laurent Tapie along with Prosper Masquelier, looks to assemble some 30,000 players at Wembley Stadium next May, all of whom will be competing in the world’s largest poker tournament.  The ISPT will kick off on laptops then switch over to a live format once 90 percent of the field is eliminated.   There will be a guaranteed prize pool of a guaranteed prize pool of €20,000,000.

WPT Legends of Poker 2012 Final Table Determined

The WPT Legends of Poker 2012 Final Table is ready to go with Josh Hale the chip leader. 

Max Steinberg, with 1,020,000 chips, has won $1.1 million in live tournaments to date with his biggest coming at this year’s World Series of Poker Event #33 where he walked away with over $440,000 and his first bracelet. 

Jeff Madsen was sitting with 1,030,000 chips.  He has won over $3.4 million lifetime and has two bracelets.

Ali Eslami had 2,900,000 chips.  He has won $1.1 million in live tournaments to date.

Mikalai Pobal Wins 2012 EPT Barcelona Poker Tournament for €1,007,550

Belarus player Mikalai Pobal won Spain’s biggest ever poker tournament today and a massive first prize of €1,007,550. The 28-year-old from Minsk beat Ilari “Ziigmund” Sahamies heads-up with Aces after outlasting a record-breaking field of 1,082 players at EPT Barcelona, the debut event of EPT Season 9. As well as his Champion’s title, cash prize and trophy, Pobal also wins a stunning Slyde watch from luxury Swiss brand HD3, the Official Watch Sponsor for EPT9 Main Events.
