Event #20: $15,000 Guaranteed NLH Freezeout – ($10+1 buy-in)

With 1463 participants in Event #20, it was the biggest field in a Poker Maximus II tournament to date and even then, there was still a few hundred dollars of overlay to play for. Just over eight hours of play was needed to crown a champion while the top 144 finishers took home some prize money. In the end it was canepapro outlasting Rxcigar for the title and the $2660.25 prize.

Canepapro decided to put in a small raise preflop with his Kd,Qc, and Rxcigar had no problem calling with his 9d,7c. When the flop came 9s,Js,Jc, Rxcigar jumped into the lead and decided to check –call when canepapro made a continuation bet. When the Tc fell on the turn things changed and gave canepapro the best hand with his straight. He bet out again after another check from Rxcigar and was called once more. The river 4s helped no one and canepapro shoved all in and was called for the third straight time. He flipped over his straight and Rxcigar realized his 9’s were no good and he’d have to settle for 2nd place.

1 canepapro $2660.25; 2 Rxcigar $1800.00; 3 JLP1960 $1425.00; 4 A2000M2 $1095.00; 5 adel648 $780.00; 6 SuperTerryAA $615.00; 7 P0cketJerrys $465.00; 8 Vertible3 $330.00; 9 thecrimedog77 $225.00  Learn More About Poker Maximus Here

Event #21: $40,000 Guaranteed NLH Shorthanded – ($100+9 buy-in)

Another NLH shorthanded tournament was on tap for Event #21 and the $100+9 buy-in was big enough to attract 470 players to the tournament. With 20 minute blind levels, this tournament was a test of patience, endurance and skill and it was tsofpoker6 that came out on top to take home just over $10K for his efforts.

The final hand in this event was a bit uneventful in terms of action along the way as tsofpoker6 used his big stack power to push his opponent around at the end and shoved all in pre-flop with his Kh,10c. IMVERYGOOD woke up with pocket Jacks and had no problem putting his tournament life on the line. When the flop came down 2s,10h,5h, nothing changed except another 10 could now win it for tsofpoker6 too. The turn was another 2 but when the Ks hit on the river, the pocket Jacks were cracked and tsofpoker6 left the winner.

Final table results and prizes:

1 tsofpoker6 $10011.00; 2 IMVERYGOOD $6815.00; 3 guttaville88 $4582.50; 4 INeedRunners $3290.00; 5 LSSDDEXL $2820.00; 6 NaughtyEskimo $2350.00; 7 josegra $1880.00; 8 WhoRunIt44 $1410.00; 9 GOSTOBRASIL $940.00

Event #22: $10,000 Guaranteed HORSE – ($30+3 buy-in)

HORSE tournaments attract a special kind of player that love all variations of poker and 303 players at Carbon Poker were intrigued and thought highly enough of their skills across the board to give Event #22 a try. With that many players there was still $900 in overlay to compete for from the guaranteed $10,000 pool and it was Flopoogist13 who wound up as the winner and $2300 richer. Here’s how the final hand played out:

The final two players were playing Stud when the final hand happened and each player was hopeful that there hand would hold up. Flopoogist13 was calling all the way on each street hoping to hit some sort of straight or flush with his first five cards consisting of 5s,8s,2h,4s,7d. BOSSPLAYA11 was happy betting away with his Tc,Td,2c,6h,Jc hoping it held up and he could live to fight another day. After Flopoogist13 got runner-runner spades with his final two cards (3s,9s) there wasn’t much BOSSPLAYA11 could do despite hitting a third Ten at the end. Learn More About Poker Maximus Here
