Event #10: $10,000 Guaranteed NLH Heads up – ($30+3 buy-in)

The first heads-up tournament of the series was Event #10 and with the reasonable $30 buy-in, 414 players decided to test their skills in one-on-one action.  When all was said and done, the final matchup was between wildwilly69 and IamZac. Both players had played exceptionally well to get to this point and were ready to battle it out for the top prize of $2757.24.

The final match didn’t last very long given the blinds were only at 50/100 and they started with 5,000 chips apiece. IamZac min-raised pre-flop and was called. The flop came 6d,9c,Ac and after wildwilly69 checked to the bettor, IamZac bet 200. Wildwilly69 was holding Ad,4c and didn’t want to get burned by any potential flush. He raised it up and after IamZac re-raised with his Tc,Qc, wildwilly69 shoved all in. Having gone this far, IamZac had to call with his flush draw and after he missed it once the 9s and 8d fell, wildwilly69 was crowned.

Final Eight Payouts and Prize Winners:

1 wildwilly69 $2757.24; 2 IamZac $1614.60; 3 lukoptik $869.40; 4 OnTheTurnAA23 $869.40; 5 AmberLamps $372.60; 6 JeffBlauser $372.60; 7 desxxx $372.60; 8 fishmom23 $372.60

Event #11: $60,000 Guaranteed with Unlimited rebuys and 1 add-on – ($55+5 buy-in)

315 entrants to Event #11 gave it their all in this tournament after all the rebuy’s and add-ons were purchased there was still a significant overlay in the prize pool. The top 36 players ended up getting some sort of cash with the winner taking home a little over $14,000.

Since this tournament was on the first NFL Sunday of the season, it was fitting that JaxJagsBabyy was one of the final two players battling for that 1st place prize and on the final hand he decided to min-raise the blinds with his pocket 9’s. His opponent, gnildnas, went over the top and shoved all-in with his Ah,2d, figuring any Ace in heads-up play is very strong. The board blanked for both players and JaxJagsBabyy’s 9’s held up for the title. Here is the rest of the final table results:

1 JaxJagsBabyy $14040.00; 2 gnildnas $9000.00; 3 imEVERYWHERE $6600.00; 4 whatsa5bet $5100.00; 5 CharlieDee $3420.00; 6 Celty7 $2460.00; 7 RNGreg $1860.00; 8 BoangTao333 $1500.00; 9 noliesjstlove $1260.00

Event #12: $125,000 Guranateed NLH – ($500+30 buy-in)

This was the big event of the day and Poker Maximus II series so far as the $500 buy-in brought only those who are regulars at these stakes and talented qualifiers looking for that big score. In the end 285 players ponied up the large entry fee and actually boosted the prize pool to $142,500. Only the top 36 players were paid and for those 9 players who were lucky enough to make the final table, a guaranteed payday of just under $3000 was waiting.

In the end it came down to players IamOld1960 and boomyoface. Both of these players had played well at the final table and it was a bit of a cold deck for IamOld1960 when all was said and done. A flop of 6s,Jh,7c came down and it was IamOld1960 who took the initiative and bet out after he was checked to. He was holding a strong two-pair (Js,6h) and was trying to get as much money in the pot as he could. Boomyoface called and hit the jackpot for his Ks,7h hand when the turn card was a King. He checked once again and then raised IamOld1960 once he bet out again. Figuring his J,6 two-pair hand was still the strongest, IamOld1960 shoved all-in and saw the bad news once boomyoface called him. The river brought no help (5d) and boomyoface took home the $33,345 1st place prize.

Event #13: $6,000 Guranateed HO – ($55+5 buy-in)

Hold’em/Omaha tournaments have waned in popularity in recent years but 122 players thought highly enough of their skills in this format to give it a go in Event #13.

The final hand was in hold’em and came down to phucitol’s Kc,8h vs. gamer77777’s 9s,10s. After a standard min-raise pre-flop by gamer77777, the flop came down 8d,7h,5s. Both players checked and although a dud hit on the turn, 4c, the action sped up. Phucitol led out with his top pair and was immediately raised by gamer77777’s open-ended straight draw with two overcards. Phucitol figured his top pair was still good at this point and his hand held up after the 3h fell. He took home the 1st place prize money of $1858.67. Congrats to all the players that made the final table, but a special mention goes to T4XX3D who finished 6th in this event after winning Event #8 a day before.
