Poker Maximus II – Day 6 Recap

Three more great No Limit Hold’em events took place on Day 6 of the Poker Maximus II series as over $115,000 in guaranteed prize money was up for grabs.  Learn More About Poker Maximus II Here

Event #17: $10,000 Guaranteed NLH Second Chance (option of 1 rebuy) – ($10+1 buy-in)

After 830 players registered for this event and the rebuy period was over, the players had boosted this prize pool up to $13,510 from its original $10K guaranteed number. With a decent sized field, the top 90 finishers took home some cash with DrBallz coming away as the winner and $2566.91 richer.

DrBallz was battling PotCommitted11 in heads-up play when he decided to min-raise from the small blind with Ac,3d. PotCommitted11 also had an ace in his hand (Ad,9h) and re-raised him the minimum again, looking to build a pot. DrBallz wasn’t having any of it and shoved all-in, only to be called by his opponent with a better ace. The flop is was saved DrBallz though as it came 3c,2h,4h, putting his hand in front, but after a Jh came on the turn, dodging any heart became a new proposition. The Kc fell on the river, and DrBallz escaped with the victory.

Final Table Payouts and Prize Winners:

1 DrBallz $2566.91; 2 PotCommitted11 $1627.96; 3 DonkDaDonks1 $1195.64; 4 CashMoneyCam $878.16; 5 george719 $695.77; 6 My3rdEye $540.41; 7 JohnFR2 $418.82; 8 Edward57 $324.25; 9 C0NNECT0RZ $256.70

Event #18: $30,000 Guaranteed NLH – ($55+5 buy-in)

Event#18 had players start out with 5000 chips and the deepstack structure was furthered with 20 min blind levels. This format attracted 716 entrants adding a little under $10K to the guaranteed prize pool. Nine and a half hours later we had a winner as SouthcJay7 outlasted everyone else for the $7876.01 1st place prize.

The blinds were still relatively small in heads-up play at 12,500/25000 when the final hand occurred and it wasn’t like so many of the other Poker Maximus II tournaments that have an all-in pre-flop and let the cards fall where they may.

SouthcJay7 min-raised from the SB position and was called by rbnmsmks. The board came down Td,3c,9d, leaving many potential draws out there. SouthcJay7 loved this flop with his 7c,8s and bet out 52K after it was checked to him. Rbnmsmks was holding a J-9 suited and didn’t mind having middle pair; he called. The turn card was the 6s giving SouthcJay7 his straight. However, rbnmsmks led out and was instantly met by a min-raise from the case hand. After a call, the Jh fell on the river and believing his two pair was best, rbnmsmks shoved all-in and was quickly shown the bad news when SouthcJay7 called with his now J-high straight. Congrats to SouthcJay7 for winning Event #18.  Learn More About Poker Maximus II Here

1 SouthcJay7 $7876.01; 2 rbnmsmks $4894.94; 3 any2willdo23 $3741.11; 4 nowitsover $2756.61; 5 riverran4 $2067.46; 6 GreatExpectationss $1575.21; 7 Cubbieguy10 $1181.41; 8 419player $984.51; 9 CooperScooper $787.61

Event #19: $75,000 Guranateed NLH Freezeout – ($200+15 buy-in)

The big event of the day was another 20 min blind structure deepstack tournament that 433 players forked over the $200+15 buy-in for. Deepstack tournaments tend to turn into marathon events and with this tournament lasting just under 10 hours, this one was no different.

When the dust had settled, the tournament title was between P0cketJerrys and murkingchops. On the final hand murkingchops min-raised the blinds with his J-9 suited and was met with a reraise from P0cketJerrys and his J-2 suited. The flop came down 7h,2c,8c and after another bet from P0cketJerrys, murkingchops called with his gutshot straight draw. The turn was where it got interesting as the Jc fell and after leading out again, P0cketJerry’s was met with an all-in wager from murkingchops believing he was best with top pair. P0cketJerry’s knew better with his two pair, called, and after the 5c fell on the river he went home the champion. It was the 2nd straight event that the losing hand was a J-9 suited and like rbnmsmks before him, murkingchops had to settle for 2nd place. Speaking of rbnmsmks, we cannot forget to mention that he had quite the good day on Day 6 as he finished 16th in this tournament to go along with his 2nd in Event#18, taking home over $5500 total on the day.

Final table results:

1 P0cketJerrys $18445.80; 2 murkingchops $12557.00; 3 gar2starvin $8443.50; 4 freeze1873133 $6062.00; 5 CZECHCHUCKY $5196.00; 6 AllDay07 $4330.00; 7 DoctorOctopus $3464.00; 8 unluckybacon $2598.00; 9 bigonthepig $1732.00
