‘Balding’ Tiger Woods Beats Mark Cuban at Poker

Tiger Woods has taken time off from golf this week.  On Friday, he opted for a night of poker with none other than Dallas Mavs billionaire owner Mark Cuban.

It was all for a good cause.  Woods was hosting Tiger Jam out in Las Vegas to benefit the Tiger Woods Foundation.

It was Tiger who came out on top against Cuban, in case you were wondering.

Online Gambling Company GVC Holdings Makes Bid for Bwin.Party

Online gambling company GVC Holdings Plc said it had submitted a bid for rival Bwin.Party Digital Entertainment Plc , which announced in March it was looking for potential suitors.

GVC Holdings Chief Executive Kenneth Alexander had told Reuters in March that "something like" Bwin.party would be of interest to the company.

Bwin.party also said they are still in negotiations with a number of third parties as well.

Bookie Sentenced to 4.5 Years Had Enforcer Willing to ‘Bite Your Face Off’

A Naples area bookie claiming ties to offshore sportsbook owner Spiros “The Greek” Athanas and a $100,000 per month nationwide network of enforcers to collect debt was in reality “small time” according to his lawyer.

Thomas Welch, 49, was sentenced to 4 ½ years behind bars after pleading guilty to single counts of racketeering and money laundering in connection to his local and Internet-based sports betting business.

Amaya Quarterly Results Boosted by PokerStars Acquisition

(Reuters) - Canadian gaming company Amaya Inc, the owner of online gambling sites PokerStars and Full Tilt, reported a massive jump in revenue and an adjusted profit on Thursday, on the back of its pivot to focus on the burgeoning online gambling market.

Montreal-based Amaya, which transformed itself in 2014 after it acquired PokerStars and Full Tilt through a $4.9 billion buyout of Rational Group, has been selling or spinning off its non-core assets over the last few months.

Mississippi Introduces Legislation to Allow Sports Betting

Mississippi has become the latest state to introduce legislation that would permit sports betting.

House Bill 806, introduced Wednesday, is sponsored by Democrat state rep. Chuck Espy.

Currently the Third U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals is expected to rule on a New Jersey challenge of the Bradley Act, or PASPA, a federal law banning sports betting in all but a handful of states.

Caesars Palace Faces Up to $20 Mil in Fines as Part of Money Laundering Probe

Las Vegas (Associated Press) - Caesars Palace could face paying between $12 million and $20 million worth of fines stemming from a federal investigation into how the casino prevents or detects money laundering.

Officials with Las Vegas-based Caesars Entertainment Corp. met with the federal agencies involved in the investigation on April 29 when settlement proposals were discussed.

The company mentioned the meeting under the header "other matters" in its third quarter financial report filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Unclaimed Gambling Winnings Could Soon be Used to Fund Rape Exams

It was found that gambling availability varies greatly from country to country. Some countries prohibit all types of casinos, while others ban local firms from running a gambling business but allow foreign companies to operate.
