Manitoba Launches Online Gambling Venture

BCLC set off on a new course for its online business today, announcing that it is partnering with Manitoba Lotteries to provide online gambling to Manitobans.

"We launched online gaming in British Columbia to provide a secure and legal option for people who play online and to keep revenues in the province that otherwise would be going to illegal gambling sites," said the Honourable Rich Coleman, Minister Responsible for BCLC. "We are pleased to share our expertise with Manitoba to strengthen regulated online gambling in Canada."

Spring Cleaning at Cryptologic as Amaya Gaming Takes Over: Shares to be Delisted

With Amaya Gaming assuming 81 percent of troubled Cryptologic’s issued shares, CEO David Gayagan has resigned as has CFO Huw Spiers, general counsel Nick Catros and two other board members. 

Amaya CEO/President David Baazoy is slated to take over Gavagan’s position effective immediately.

Cryptologic, once the leader in online gambling software, has lost its competitive edge in recent years as a result of mismanagement and executive in-fighting.

New Jersey Internet Gambling: What They’re Saying

The excitement continues to build as New Jersey inches its way to becoming only the second state in the US after Nevada to legalize Internet gambling.  The Garden State has more grandiose plans when compared to Nevada as they have hinted at forming state compacts and taking bets from other countries that allow it.  State Senator Raymond Lesniak, a co-sponsor of the bill, wants New Jersey to become the “Silicon Valley of Internet Gambling”.

Rock Gaming of Ohio Invests $60.8 Million Into Caesars Internet Poker Arm

Just days after it was revealed that Donald Trump’s camp was in talks with 888 Holdings, the Las Vegas Review Journal on Wednesday reported that Caesars Entertainment Corp. has sold an undisclosed percentage of its online poker subsidiary to its partner in two Ohio casinos for $60.8 million.

iMEGA Files Notice of Appeal Regarding Kentucky Domain Seizure

The Interactive Media Entertainment & Gaming Association (IMEGA) has submitted a Motion of Appeal regarding the Commonwealth of Kentucky’s attempt to seize 141 Internet domain names related to online gambling, some of which are no longer being utilized or have since been seized by the US Justice Department. 

On March 8, Judge Thomas Wingate ruled that no party with adequate standing had presented themselves to contest the forfeiture order issued nearly four years ago.

8th Straight Week of Online Poker Traffic Decline: iPoker Network Takes Over Number Two Spot

This week marked the 8th consecutive fall in traffic among the worldwide online poker websites, according to PokerScout.com, a site that monitors “real cash” play for most virtual card rooms.

Traffic overall fell 3.5 Percent.   A further drop off can be expected due Easter and Passover occurring this week.

Man Who Bilked Charity Poker Events Out of $6k Gets 5 Years

A former Warrenville Adelman, Chris Halley, has been sentenced to 5 years for bilking $6000 from charity poker events.

The 28-year-old pleaded guilty last month to two counts of theft. Authorities say he accepted money to help two men run the events in Naperville last year.

New Jersey Internet Gambling Bill Passes Senate Committee

(Associated Press) - An Internet gambling bill approved by a New Jersey Senate committee Tuesday would let Atlantic City casinos take bets from gamblers in other states and even other countries, as long as federal and state authorities agree it’s legal.

New Jersey has been racing to try to get Internet gambling up and running and stake an early claim to leadership in a potential multi-billion-dollar industry.

But even as the bill edges closer to approval, and supporters try to address legal concerns that led Gov. Chris Christie to veto it last year, its scope is growing.

Merge Gaming Network online poker room Poker Nordica has shut its doors, however, it appears as if accounts can be moved over to other rooms on the network such as Lock Poker and Carbon Poker

Once the second largest virtual card room on the Merge Gaming Network after Carbon, Poker Nordica’s reasons for closing shop were not immediately known.
