New Jersey Casino Revenue Down Nearly 5 Percent

Atlantic City, NJ - (Associated Press) - Atlantic City’s casino revenue fell by nearly 5 percent in August, as gamblers won table games at a higher rate than usual.

The city’s 12 casinos took in $298.1 million, down 4.8 percent from August 2012.

Revenue from table games was $78.6 million, down 10.5 percent from a year ago. The state Division of Gaming Enforcement said the casinos fared worse at table games than they did a year ago.

Slot machine revenue was $219.5 million, down 2.6 percent.

Big Improvements Promised at Lock Poker: New VIP Program, More

Lock Poker operations head Eric Rizen has advised Gambling911.com that big news was upcoming for the 2nd most trafficked US-facing online poker room in the coming month.

Changes include an upgrade to the VIP program.  Other details were not immediately released.

PA Lawmaker Caught Up in Illegal Gambling Investigation Wiretap

GLASSPORT, Pa. — (Associated Press) - A western Pennsylvania lawmaker overheard on a wiretap telling the suspected ringleader of an illegal gambling operation that he would conceal a complaint about the man's video poker machines says he has cooperated with investigators and tried to help the person who complained about the machines.

State Rep. Marc Gergely, D-Allegheny, broke his silence Monday on the wiretap information disclosed last week before the House Democratic Caucus.

New Jersey to Launch Legal Online Gambling Site November 23

New Jersey has set a tentative date for permitting legalized real money online gambling for November 23.  Whether sites are ready to begin taking customers by that time remains to be seen though Atlantic City’s Borgata Casino has actively been hiring for its online gambling arm in recent weeks.

Washington State Withdraws Action Against Galaxy Gaming

Galaxy Gaming, Inc. (OTC:GLXZ) announced that the Washington State Gambling Commission has withdrawn administrative charges against the Company. Illinois Casinos Want 24 Hour Gambling

CHICAGO  (Associated Press) - Riverboat casinos in Illinois want to remain open for business around the clock.

The Illinois Casino Gaming Association is asking state regulators for the OK to operate 24 hours a day. Currently, no casinos are open more than 22 hours.

The Illinois Gaming Board has scheduled a public hearing for Sept. 19 in Chicago to consider the request.

Alabama Robbery Probe Unveils Illegal Gambling

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (Associated Press) - Jefferson County sheriff's officials say a reported robbery has led authorities to busting an illegal gambling operation.

Sheriff's spokesman Randy Christian says deputies were called to a business early Monday morning to investigate a robbery. Christian says responding officers found illegal electronic gambling machines inside the establishment.

Curacao Fines Online Gambling Company for Operating Without a License

The Dutch Antilles island of Curacao has fined an online gambling operator $100,000 for failing to hold a gaming license.

The company, Global Stars, focuses primarily on the Dutch market where such activity is deemed illegal.

Jan Suyver, chairman of the Kansspelautoriteit, said that “companies offering online gambling now know they can be penalised because licences are yet to be granted, and consumers know that those who do so are not being supervised by the government.”

Florida Gambling Laws Due for Overhaul

TALLAHASSEE (Associated Press) - Gambling facilities in Florida could be in for some changes as the state considers a possible overhaul of the rules.

The state agency that oversees dog tracks, horse tracks and jai-alai frontons and other types of gambling announced Friday it would draw up new rules because some of the current ones are unclear.

The state plans to hold a workshop in October.

The move came the same day that the Florida Senate announced it was going to hold public hearings about gambling issues in October and November.
