Sportech Shares Rise on News of US Entry

Gambling group Sportech (SPO) gained 2.3% to 66.25p Tuesday on news its US racing subsidiary has been awarded a gaming licence in New Jersey.

BetOnline

Sportech Racing will process all the wagering for the racing industry at New Jersey racecourses, off track betting facilities, certain casinos in Atlantic City, and through the state’s only sanctioned “advance deposit wagering” (online betting) service.

Ian Penrose, Sportech chief executive said “We are delighted to have been awarded our licence in New Jersey, which we believe is among the first, if not the first, to be acquired there by a European gaming group.

“It is viewed as a ‘Gold Standard’ in licensing in the sector globally, and is an endorsement of our standards of operations and the qualifications of our directors and senior employees.

“I thank all those who have been involved in the process to help us get to this point, and look forward to building on the opportunity that this licence award presents to Sportech.”

How Do I Start a Sportsbook From Illinois?

Illinois is an excellent state in which to be a bookie.  Even though the state now allows for betting on home teams like the Fighting Illini and Wildcats, you'll need to wager in person on those teams at a casino.  Not exactly the most convenient.  The local bookie makes things much easier by placing those team bets online using the pay per head software.
