Three Poker Pros Sit Strong in Event #29 at WSOP

Seated in the $10,000 Limit Hold'em Championship tournament at the World Series of Poker, DoylesRoom's top pros are continuing to demonstrate that they have unlimited potential.

Heading into Day 2 of Event #29, Hoyt Corkins holds the 4th place spot with 109,900 chips. Todd Brunson is within a few hands of the top spot in 13th place with 84,800 chips and Doyle Brunson, poker's biggest legend, is close behind in 26th place with 65,300 chips.

Van der Sloot Attorney Claims Inconsistencies

Joran van der Sloot remained on the lam Thursday following news that a woman had been stabbed to death in his Lima, Peru hotel room Sunday.  The body was found three days later.

Stephany Tatiana Flores Ramirez, who was reportedly an out lesbian struggling with her sexuality, was found beaten and stabbed to death in a room at the Miraflores Hotel Tac in Lima booked in van der Sloot's name, police said.  Her father is a well-known businessman and former race car driver.

Liv Boeree of Wins EPT San Remo Main Event

Former astrophysics student Liv Boeree has rocketed to the top spot in the EPT San Remo Main Event. The pro conquered a field of 1,240 to win the tournament on Wednesday evening local time. Boeree leaves the San Remo, Italy tournament with the title and a €1,250,000 paycheck after some back-and-forth blind swapping with Jackob Carlsson during heads-up play.

The final hand saw Boeree raise to 700,000 from the button with Jakob Carlsson shoving all in from the big blind. Boeree called and her pocket fives held up to Carlsson's A, 6.

The mysterious high stakes online poker player known as Isildur1 has pulled out of PartyPoker Big Game IV before its scheduled start.   The tournament is a 48-hour cash game.

PartyPoker celebrity player Tony G. issued this statement: "It has left a bad taste in my mouth. What you have to understand is that he reached out to me first and asked and then agreed to play. As far as I am concerned, I am washing my hands with him and moving on."
