Aerosmith frontman, Steven Tyler, has been quoted as saying he is “probably doing it” in response to rumors that he would replace Ellen DeGeneres on American Idol.

DeGeneres announced she would be leaving the show after one year citing her discomfort with having to criticize contestants.

Reports also surfaced that judge Kara DioGuardi had been fired.

Fox's entertainment chair Peter Rice has said: "The only thing I can tell you is that no one has singed a deal yet on either side of the camera to be on 'American Idol' who wasn't on the show last year.  Much of the information [in the media] is accurate and some of it is wildly inaccurate."

Ratings for American Idol are on the decline as is betting interest on the show.
