American Idol

Following a fantastic performance by Adam Lambert on Tuesday's night's installment of American Idol, it appears very much so that he is safe....perhaps the only one guaranteed safe.  Lambert performed a falsetto version of Tears for Fears "Mad World".

Here's something those of us here at Gambling911.com don't quite understand.  While Google Trends had "All She Wants To Do Is Dance" by Don Henley as the most searched for term after American Idol went off (Google Trends had apparently updated just prior to Lambert's performance), DialIdol.com had Kris Allen (who performed the song) dead last among vote-getters.

Oddsmakers  listed Allen among the favorites heading into Tuesday night's show.

"He was listed with +750 odds, which would pay out $7.50 for every $1.00 if he were to win," said Carrie Stroup, Senior Reporter of the Gambling911.com website.

But MTV basically summed up why Allen could be out the door Wednesday night following American Idol's Results Show.

"Kris Allen, born in 1985, was next, turning the rock tune Don Henley's "All She Wants to Do Is Dance" into a funky blue-eyed soul shuffle as he strummed his electric guitar in the midst of a circle of clapping fans. The result made Kara say he sounded like he was doing a "jazz-funk homework" assignment and that the arrangement was too old. Simon Cowell was more direct, dubbing the performance boring, forgettable and indulgent, and saying Allen came over as a guitar player that wants to sing, rather than a singer. "It was a stupid, stupid song choice," he said. When Randy said he felt like the arrangement overwhelmed Allen's vocals and that he was listening to the music more than the singer, Allen looked on with a surprised, hurt expression on his face."

The fact that the song was getting so much interest on Google might mean a reprieve for Kris Allen however.

Anoop Desai got the second lowest vote count, based on Dial Idol data, which is certainly not 100 percent accurate but a good gauge nonetheless.

"That's interesting because Desai's was one of the best performances of the evening and the judges all agreed, including Simon Cowell," Stroup says.

Anoop sang Cyndi Lauper's "True Colors".

"If it's Anoop who America wants to send home, the judges could decide to keep him."

Scott MacIntyre had the longest odds coming into Tuesday night's show and could also be out the door based on Dial idol data.  He performed Survivor's "The Search is Over" and hit some bad notes.

Expect these three to be in the bottom and MacIntyre goes home.
