Adam Lambert's American Idol stock just went up further as oddsmakers are likely to list him as a much bigger favorite following this week's "Songs The Year You Were Born" edition of Idol.

Lambert chose Tears for Fears "Mad World" and made it sound much better than the original.

Because Idol was over its time limit, only judge Simon Cowell spoke, summing things up and standing up:  "Well done" he said.

Written by Roland Orzabal and sung by bassist Curt Smith, it was the band's third single release and first chart hit, reaching #3 on the UK Singles Chart in November 1982.  The song was released prior to Tears for Fears commercial success in the United States.

"Adam Lambert put his own poignant touch on the song and no Idol came close to that performance Tuesday night," commented Carrie Stroup, Gambling911.com reporter who over the years has covered American Idol betting.   "He will likely get the most votes this week."

Heading into Tuesday night, Lambert was an even odds favorite to win.  Just two weeks ago, Danny Gokey was listed as the slight favorite to win American Idol following a performance by Lambert that left most of the judges confused.  Cowell essentially called it "horrible".
