Gambling Heroes Who Should Be Featured Over and Over Again

For the most part, poker players and successful gamblers in general tend to hog the glory. While some players rise to titanic levels of popularity, others tend to fade into the background, of no fault of their own. Simply put, there is only so much attention the public can give to professional gamblers. As a result, we have gathered here today not to give even more attention to the likes of Daniel Negreanu, but to talk about the unsung heroes of the industry that deserve more attention than they are current

For the most part, poker players and successful gamblers in general tend to hog the glory. SIKORA TAKES LEAD FOR DAY 4 OF EPT12 MALTA MAIN EVENT

Jaroslaw Sikora has been in the spotlight at EPT Malta since Monday when he bagged the biggest stack at the end of Day 1b. He's now leading the EPT12 Malta Main Event once again, with 1,457,000 in chips at the end of Day 3. With 40 players left, Sikora has already improved on his best EPT Main Event finish to date, 45th place at EPT 12 Barcelona in August (for €22,840). But he has done well in Malta before; at the EPT's debut stop on the island in March, Sikora was runner-up in the IPT Malta Main Event for a career-best cash of €97,975.

Ivey’s big question: why is edge sorting cheating?

Phil Ivey’s recent failure to win the right of appeal in his court case against a London casino raises some profound questions for card players. The ten time WSOP winner lost a $12.4 million court case in London, England in 2012 after the casino refused to pay out on his baccarat win there, insisting that because he had ‘edge-sorted’ he had in effect cheated them.

WSOP Finalist Billy Pappas Tells G911 ‘If He Wins, He’ll Buy Mom a House’

Even if 2014 World Series of Poker Main Event final table member William Pappaconstantinou doesn't do another thing at this year's WSOP, he's already got one record under his belt.

His last name contains 17 letters, giving him the longest last name of anyone who has ever made the WSOP Main Event final table.

(He's probably got the longest last name of anyone who has ever played in the WSOP, but that's still being checked.)

So that's why Pappaconstantinou, 29, from Lowell, Massachusetts, USA, goes by the handy moniker "Billy Pappas."

Poker Pro Dutch Boyd Talks About Being Bipolar: But Is He Mental?

In an audio interview with CalvinAyre.com, poker pro Dutch Boyd discussed living with bipolar disorder.

Years ago, the poker community had posed the question: “Is Dutch Boyd mental?”

“I don’t know. I haven’t had an issue with bipolar for six-years now. I haven’t been on any sort of medication. As soon as I stopped doing drugs and cut out that unhealthy part of my life, the bipolar just seemed to disappear. Sometimes I am frightened it will come back and sometimes I think it’s creeping up on me.

Finalists for the Poker Hall of Fame 2014 Announced: Daniel Negreanu Makes the Cut

This year’s finalists for the Poker Hall of Fame have been announced with Daniel Negreanu making the list for his first year of eligibility. 

Negreanu is the biggest money earner in poker, having taken in nearly $30 million at live tournaments to date.  He is just 40 years old.

California Man Turns $200 Into $74000 at HPT Main Event

Rancho Mirage, CA (September 8, 2014) - Monday morning, Raffi Der Gregorian listed his total career poker earnings at $0. By the end of the day, the Glendale, California man outlasted the field in the Heartland Poker Tour Main Event at Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa to join the elite club of HPT Champions. He can now adjust his earnings total to $74,276.

Ihar Soika Wins EPT 11 Barcelona High Roller: Mercier Finishes 2nd

Jason Mercier finished second at the EPT 11 Barcelona High Roller event, taking home a cool €473,500.

The eventual winner was Ihar Soika from Belarus who took home €747,200.

The event had a total of 393 entries and became the biggest High Roller in the history of the EPT.

EPT 100 Barcelona Final: Hossein Ensan Leads the Pack

At the start of #EPT100, Hossein Ensan, 50, took down the first ever EPT Seniors Event for a best live cash of €4,535. He then won a seat in a live satellite to the record-breaking EPT Barcelona Main Event and is going in to the final as chip leader with 10,295,000.

Bram Haenraets Leads 25 Remaining Players at EPT100 Barcelona Main Event

Dutch PokerStars qualifier Bram Haenraets, who is playing his first live tournament, is chip leader going in to Day 5 of the record-breaking #EPT100 Barcelona Main Event. The 30-year-old from Amsterdam - who won his seat in a €82 satellite on PokerStars - has 4,395,000.

There are 25 players left from the 102 who started Day 3 today. The overall field was a staggering 1496 players from 71 countries, a record for EPT events in Europe (beating the 1,240-strong EPT6 Sanremo won by Liv Boeree).

Jason Mercier Once Stabbed in the Back – Almost Died: Reveals Scar for First Time

While attending this week’s EPT Barcelona events, poker pro Jason Mercier spoke to PokerStars TV and was candid in recounting the time he nearly died outside an Italian nightclub following a brutal and -what he says - was an unprevoked stabbing.  The attacked occurred right after his first European Poker Tour win in 2008 at San Remo.
