WSOP: Michael Mizrachi, Theo Jorgensen, Matt Affleck Watch

By 8 pm PST we were winding down to 104 players in the 2010 World Series of Poker (WSOP). Some big names were still hovering around the top 20 leader board.

Denmark’s Theo Jorgensen has been a regular fixture among the top 10 these past few days. Jorgensen is one of the best known Danes on the circuit today and has amassed nearly $2.2 million in live tournament career wins.

Tom Durrrr Dwan Poker Hall of Fame Nod Nonsense

The nomination of young Tom “Durrrr” Dwan to the Poker Hall of Fame raised many eyebrows in recent days. 

Dwan has had quite an impact on the poker world, mostly over the Internet, but many diehards would argue that he has hardly built up enough of a resume to even be considered for the Poker Hall of Fame. As of 2009, 38 people have been inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame. Fifteen of those people are still living.  At age 23, Dwan wouldn’t seem like the most logical of candidates.  

The Poker Hall of Fame Governing Council agreed.

Johnny Chan Looking To Tie Phil Hellmuth WSOP Bracelets

The excitement was heating up at the 2010 World Series of Poker with noted pro Johnny Chan looking to tie Phil Hellmuth's record number of WSOP bracelets:  11

In 2005, Chan became the first player to win ten World Series of Poker titles, defeating Phil Laak in a Texas hold 'em event. He is currently tied with Doyle Brunson for second place with 10 World Series of Poker bracelets, behind Phil Hellmuth. He was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame in 2002.

At press time Monday evening, Chan was the 6th biggest chip leader in the 2010 WSOP main event.

Joy Miller, who is covering the 2010 World Series of Poker for ESPN, might be in a bit of a pickle should Dan Bilzerian continue to excel.

Poker News: Peter Eastgate Retires… For Now

The 2008 World Series of Poker champion Peter Eastgate is retiring from the world of poker according to the Associated Press.

"I was bored of the game, lacking motivation, did not need the money any more so saw no point in continuing," Peter Eastgate told The Associated Press in a Facebook message on Wednesday. "In case I return, it will be because I need an income again or because I am bored doing nothing."

Eastgate told the AP he has no immediate plans and isn't sure what he will do next.

World Series of Poker 10 Biggest Winners of All Time

With the 2010 World Series of Poker main event about to get underway, Gambling911.com looks at the WSOP top 10 moneymakers of all time.

In the top position is the 2006 World Series of Poker winner, Jamie Gold, who walked off with a whopping $12, 068,751 in what was the peak year for the main event before online poker prohibition came into effect later that year, making it more difficult for players to access Internet poker rooms via their credit cards.  Additionally, post-Gold, online players found it more difficult to qualify as there were fewer rooms and more restrictions.
