Revolution Gaming Now the Biggest US-Facing Online Poker Network: WSOP Updates

The rebranded Cake Network, now featuring Lock Poker and calling itself Revolution Gaming, has overtaken Merge to become the most trafficked US-facing online poker network.

Its 24 hour peak Saturday morning was 1947 compared to Merge at 1767.  Microgaming, meanwhile, managed to inch up a notch to number 9.  Revolution was expected to surpass Microgaming in terms of overall traffic by the end of the weekend, however.

World Series of Poker Events Have Phil Ivey, Phil Hellmuth With Strong Showing Friday

The 2012 World Series of Poker events were in full force with a total of 5 in progress on Friday.  Among the top performers in events that were starting to wind down included Phil Ivey, Phil Hellmuth, Todd Brunson, David Arsht, Layne Flack and Brandon Schaefer. 

 

WSOP Event 13 Limit Hold’em Winner is David Arsht

 

David Arsht has won Event 13 of the 2012 World Series of Poker – Limit Hold’em.  Arsht takes home $211,921 and his first ever bracelet.

Brian Hastings Wins First WSOP Bracelet: Financial Struggles Behind Him Perhaps

Popular online poker player Brian Hastings has won his first ever World Series of Poker bracelet, beating Jason Mo in the Heads-Up No Limit Hold’em Event 12.

Family Values Group Want UIGEA Strengthened

Despite close to a dozen states pushing forward to legalize online poker, some groups are looking to further strengthen existing prohibition such as the Unlawful Internet Gaming Enforcement Act (UIGEA).

UIGEA essentially makes it illegal for US banks to process payments for online gambling companies.  The US Justice Department, meanwhile, has given the green light to states to regulate Internet poker.

Brian Hastings, Tommy Chen Top WSOP Event 12 Head’s Up No Limit Hold’em

4 out of 512 players remained at the World Series of Poker Event 12 Head’s Up No Limit Hold’em including popular online player Brian Hastings and Tommy Chen, who was chip leader coming into Thursday.

Hastings was the second biggest chip leader after Jeffrey Gross overnight but Gross would eventually go on to be eliminated. 

Lock Poker pro Michael Drummond cashed out in 8th place with $56,380.

Vanessa Selbst also enjoyed success in this event, cashing out at $20,674 in 9th place.

Merge Poker Falls Two Spots: Revolution Gaming Just 60 Players Off

Merge Gaming has fallen from the number 8 spot of most trafficked online poker rooms to number 10 early Thursday morning while Revolution Gaming was now within a mere 60 players average.

Vincent van der Fluit Wins World Series of Poker Event 11: Pot-Limit Omaha

Dutch poker player Vincent van der Fluit has won Event 11:  Pot-Limit Omaha.  He takes home $265,211 and a bracelet, van der Fluit’s first.

Bally Technologies Becomes Nevada’s First Licensed Online Poker Site: Will Hill Still Shut Out

Bally Technologies, which earlier in the year partnered up with France online poker venture Chili Gaming, has been granted the first license to operate a Web poker site by the state of Nevada.  For now the fee is $125,000 but could be reduced at a later date.

California Amends its Online Poker Bill

The state of California has further amended its online poker bill as a means of appeasing the powerful Tribal casinos.

An initial version of the bill would have required Tribes to waive their sovereignty rights as a requirement for obtaining a license.

Applicants must be in “good standing” with the California Gambling Control Commission (CGCC) for three years but will be able to establish partnership agreements.

PokerStars Cancels Macau Poker Cup August Events

No reason was given as to why PokerStars abruptly cancelled its Macau Poker Cup August events on Wednesday. 

The world’s largest real money online poker company and sponsor of the European Poker Tour (EPT) only cited “events beyond our reasonable control”.

Future Macau Poker events remain in limbo.

Everleaf Gaming Attempts to Pay Back US Players Not Genuine Claims Processor

A payment processor is claiming that the Everleaf Gaming Network was offered the opportunity to pay back US players but declined to do so. 

Chuck Kidd, head of Costa Rica-based PICCLUB, an online payment processor, told PokerFuse.com he offered to facilitate payment to US customers through his company but that they refused

John Monnette Wins World Series of Poker Event Number 10: Seven Card Stud

John Monnette has won the WSOP Event 10:  Seven Card Stud.  The US poker player pocketed just over $190,000.

Finishing behind Monnette were Huu Vinh, Timothy Finne, Perry Friendman and Jeff Lisandro. 

This is Monnette’s second World Series of Poker bracelet.  He had previously won the 42nd WSOP Eight Game Mix and the $278,144 that came with it.

World Series of Poker Director Ty Stewart Addresses WSOP Controversies (Video)

World Series of Poker Executive Director Ty Stewart sat down with Quadjacks.com to talk about four early controversies surrounding the WSOP events. 

Among those controversies, WSOP Twitter administrator Seth Palansky personally attacking poker pro Jon Aguiar by referring to him as a “complete bitch” . Palansky later apologized and announced he would no longer be overseeing the WSOP Twitter feed.

Online Poker Rakeback to be Paid Hourly at Revolution Gaming, Lock Poker

The Revolution Gaming Network entered the online poker industry last week with a bang, offering 36 percent rakeback and now comes word rakeback will be paid hourly at rooms such as Lock and Cake.

Revolution debuted following Lock Poker’s acquisition of the Cake Poker Network.  Cake itself remains a pivotal skin on the network and still features its own brand of casino games.

Blaze Poker, the Latest Fast Online Poker Variant Comes to BetVictor, Ladbrokes

Following in the footsteps of Rush Poker, Zoom and Fast, BetVictor.com has introduced Blaze Poker, the latest variant that allows players to join a communal pool then reseat seamlessly at a new table once they complete or fold.  This is online poker network Microgaming’s entry into the speed poker sector. 

Up to 300 hands can be played per hour with Blaze, that is four to five times more than under traditional rules. Initially Blaze Poker is available at six-handed tables.

Daniel Negreanu Parks Trailer Outside WSOP

Daniel Negreanu is one of a handful of poker pros who has his own trailer and he’s parking it right outside the Rio in Vegas while taking part in the 2012 World Series of Poker events. 

Negreanu’s trailer has its own fridge and a bed of course to take naps.

“I'm a vegan, so I have a fridge full of stocked foods with a microwave so I never have to worry about going hungry, and also in between breaks I'm double dipping a lot of these tournaments,” he notes in his blog.

Aubin Cazals won the Event 6: $5,000 No-Limit Hold'em Mixed-Max Monday night, beating 2010 November Niner Joseph Cheong.

Herbert Tapscott has won his first ever World Series of Poker bracelet and the $264,400 cash prize that came with it at this year’s Event #8:  Omaha Hi-Low Split-8 or Better.
