24 Players Remain at EPT Deauville 2012

There were 24 players remaining at the EPT Deauville 2012 with Luca Pagano leading the pack.

Pagano is a successful player who has won just over $1.5 million in career live tournament play.  The Italian-born player has two first place finishes and 33 cashes. 

His most recent first place win came at the PokerStars.com IPT San Remo Season 3 IPT Main Event – No Limit Hold’em where he won $301,248.  His biggest win, however, was a 6th place finish at the Grand Final PokerStars EPT/Season 4 EPT No Limit Hold’em.

LSOP Lima Officially Announced

Gambling911.com broke the news yesterday about the Latin Series of Poker (LSOP) and here is more detailed information...

Organizers of the Latin Series of Poker (LSOP) announced today that they will guarantee half a million dollars in their first Live Poker Event in 2012. The Texas Hold'em tournament will be held from June 5th to June 10th at the Atlantic City Casino in Lima, Peru.

EPT8 Deauville – Phomveha Snatches Lead From Vinklarek at End of Day 3

French player Samphane Phomveha has snatched the lead from Ondrej Vinklarek in the very last moments of Day 3 of EPT Deauville. Vinklarek, known as "the Czech Chris Moorman", shoved king-five off-suit pre-flop into the 32-year-old Frenchman's pocket kings. Phomveha how has 1.4 million while Vinklarek is down to 224,000.

2012 WSOP Schedule Released: New $1 Million Buy-in Revealed

Among the many surprises revealed with the release of the 2012 WSOP schedule, new events include a $1 million buy-in, re-entry, mix-max and four-handed formats.  Also, as Gambling911.com reported earlier on Wednesday, there will no longer be a November Nine event.

No More November Nine: World Series of Poker Scraps Delayed Final Table for 2012 Schedule

The World Series of Poker was set to release its 2012 schedule.  In advance of the announcement, the WSOP tweeted that the November Nine will not be found on this year’s schedule.

This past year near live coverage of the WSOP turned out to be a pretty huge success.  Rumors of the November Nine demise had surfaced for months.

The tweet:

“A few hints on WSOP schedule coming tomorrow…you won’t find the November Nine returning.”

The November Nine was added in 2008 and went through 2011.

2012 Aussie Millions Main Event Winner is Oliver Speidel

The 2010 Aussie Millions Main Event has been won by Olver Speidel of Melbourne, Australia.

Speidel had 11 cashes and just over $229,000 in winnings on the live poker circuit coming into this event.  Last year, Speidel won the Aussie Millions No Limit Hold’em and netted just over $105,000.  He also won the Manny Pacquiao World Poker Event Main Event last month.

Aussie Millions 2012 Final Table Won’t Feature Phil Ivey

Relative unknown poker player Bjorn Li led the Aussie Millions 2012 Main Event Final Table this weekend while big name pro Phil Ivey was knocked out.

Ivey, who had the shortest stack of chips coming into yesterday’s play, was eliminated in 12th place. 

Seven people will compete at the final table for their chance to win over a million dollars.

Phil Ivey Down But Not Out at 2012 Aussie Millions Main Event

With just 12 players left at the 2012 Aussie Millions Main Event, Saturday afternoon will featured six-handed play until only seven players remain. Those seven will play the official final table on Sunday afternoon.

One of those 7 players could be Phil Ivey, perhaps the most recognized name in the world of poker today.  Heading into Saturday, Ivey had the lowest number of chips among the remaining 12 players however.

Leading the pack was relative unknown Canadian players Yann Dion.

Phil Ivey Going Strong at 2012 Aussie Millions Main Event

Poker pro Phil Ivey is among remaining 26 players at the 2012 Aussie Millions Main Event.

Ivey has mostly been out of sight since the online poker room he represented, Full Tilt Poker, went under last summer.  He has also been embroiled in a high profile nasty divorce battle.

26 Left at Aussie Millions 2012 Main Event: Phil Ivey Among Them

Poker phenom Phil Ivey remained among the top 10 chip leaders at the Aussie Millions 2012 Main Event with just 26 players left in the field entering Day 4.

The leader was Matthew Turk, a British player with only two prior cashouts on the live circuit.

Australian Tim O’Shea had the next largest chip stack at 1,376,000.
 He, too, has only had two previous cashouts.

2012 World Poker Tour Coming to Tampa, Florida in March: Hopes to Repeat Past State Success

The Silks Poker Room at Tampa Bay Downs will play host to the 2012 World Poker Tour Regional Series.  A WPT event held late last year in Jacksonville was the biggest poker tournament on record for the state of Florida and organizers hope to duplicate this success.

Carbon Poker Reveals New Tournament Series

Starting March of 2012 Carbon Poker is going to run the first ever tournament series.

“We are confident this will be a massive event and it is something that players have been asking for consistently for a while now,” a spokesperson for the company advised Gambling911.com on Wednesday. 

The event will be called Poker Maximus and will officially start on March 4th 2012. Satellites will start running for the events in late January 2012.

Aussie Millions 2012 Main Event: Daniel Negreanu, Joe Hachem and Erik Seidel Out

The third and final day of the Aussie Millions 2012 Main Event signup period witnessed the largest number of players at 317, bringing the total field to 657.  Tuesday’s play witnessed an epic showdown between one of poker’s elite Phil Ivey and Australian cricketer and 888.com Poker spokesperson Shane Warne.

Joe Hachem Becomes New Ambassador of the Asian Poker Tour

2005 World Series of Poker Main Event winner, Joe Hachem, will now serve as Ambassador for the Asian Poker Tour.  Hachem recently parted ways with the world’s largest online poker room, PokerStars.  At the time of his departure, Hachem claimed he wanted to spend more time with his family.

Aussie Millions Event 6 $1,100 NL Rebuy Won by Michael Pedley

Michael Pedley has won the Aussie Millions Event #6 $1,100 NL Rebuy and the $122,670 cash prize.  There were a total of 331 rebuys for this event. 

One of Pedley’s biggest cashouts to date was at the 39th World Series of Poker 2008 Main Event whereby he walked off with $35,383.  He actually finished in 242nd place. 

His biggest payday was at the 2008 Crown Aussie Millions Championship Event Number 5 – No Limit Hold’em.  Pedley walked away with $177, 011.

No Official Word of Tom Dwan at Aussie Millions 2012: But He’s Been Spotted With Girlfriend

After taking a crack at the Macau Big Games, online high stakes poker phenom Tom “Durrrr” Dwan has headed down under to presumably take part in the 2012 Aussie Millions.

Poker.it spotted him there along with this girlfriend, who has been tweeting about their Australian trip.  The two were photographed in front of the Opera House.

Online Poker Traffic Stagnant for Week

Following a huge increase in online poker traffic last week, there was virtually zero growth during mid-January.

PokerScout.com reported a 0.1 percent net decrease. The good news, among the top 10 sites and networks, advancers outnumbered decliners seven to three.

Merge Gaming Network gained 3 percent for the week as its bad beat jackpot rose to more than $1 million.

Microgaming.fr moved up to ninth place ahead of PokerStars.fr.

Joe Hachem, Shane Warne Among the Finalists at their Own Charity Poker Events

Here is something sort of ironic as it relates to the 2012 Aussie Millions event.  Joe Hachem nearly won his own charity event, finishing third.

Leonid Bilokur Wins $1,134,930 at the 2012 PCA $25K High Roller Event

Ukrainian-born Leonid "Alexey" Bilokur has won the 2012 PokerStars Caribbean Adventure $25k High Roller event for $1,143,930.

Bilokur, 37, beat Team PokerStars Pro Jonathan Duhamel heads-up to take down the 2012 PCA High Roller title, coveted trophy and stunning €10,000 bracelet from Official High Roller Bracelet Sponsor Shamballa Jewels. A total of 141 players entered the event – with seven re-entries - creating a total prize pool of $3,626,000.
