2012 EPT Madrid Chip Leaders After Day 2

Mike McDonald led the pack at the 2012 EPT Madrid after Day 2. 

The Canadian pro has 21 career cashes in live tournament play and has taken in $3,639,312 to date. 

Lock Poker elite player Melanie Weisner still remains among the 116 players yet to be eliminated.  She was clinging onto 43,200 chips.

Americas Cardroom to Celebrate Black Friday, Jenny Woo Birth With Quarter Million Giveaway

April 15 is fast approaching and for those in the online poker world, this marks the infamous “Black Friday”, a day in which the US Justice Department unceremoniously shut down three of the biggest US-facing Web card rooms.  To mark the occasion, Americas Cardroom is giving away $250,000 as part of a No-Limit Hold’em online poker tournament with the first prize a guaranteed $50,000.

€2.3 Million Prize Pool for 2012 EPT Madrid

A total of 477 players from 46 countries competed at EPT Madrid creating a €2,313,450 prize pool. The winner will snag a first prize of €545,000 as well as a bracelet worth more than €10,000 from EPT Season 8 Official Bracelet Sponsor Shamballa Jewels. A total of 72 players will be paid. Nearly 60 players have already signed up for the Last Longer contest run by Skrill, the Official Payment Provider for EPT Season 8. The winner will get their €5,300 Main Event buy-in credited back into their Skrill account.

Moon Kim Enjoys 2012 WPT Bay 101 Win

Poker player Moon Kim is the winner of the 2012 WPT Bay 101 event and takes home $960,000 after battling it out with Ubaid Habid, who finished 2nd and leaves with $570,220.

2010 World Series of Poker Main Event champ Jonathan Duhamel continues his solid 2012 showing, this time making the final 20 cut of the WPT Bay 101.

2012 WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star Day 1B Results

2012 WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star Day 1B results had Christ Summer leading in the chip count after Day 1B while combined results had Bryce Yockey as the two day chip leader.

Among the more recognizable names within the top 10 were Michael Mizrachi with 129,900 chips.  He sat in 6th place.

JC Tran was also among the top 10 chip leaders.

Sean Jazayeri Wins 2012 LA Poker Classic Main Event

Sean Jazayeri has been declared the winner of the 2012 LA Poker Classic Main Event, outlasting a field of several hundred.  He walks away with $1.37 million. 

Having begun the final table as chip leader, Jazayeri was quick to add to his lead by knocking out Jason “JCarver” Sommerville in just the second hand of play and after the table’s other short stack, Jason Burt, departed in 5th, he added the scalp of Noah Schwartz to his collection.

Jazayeri beat David Sands, a player who managed to finish among the top 20 at this year’s World Series of Poker Main Event.

Phil Hellmuth First Poker Tournament Win in Nearly 5 Years

After finishing in 2nd place in three of last year’s World Series of Poker tournaments, Phil Hellmuth has finally actually won a tournament, his first in five years.

Hellmuth won the 2012 LA Poker Classic $2080 Buy-In 8-Game Mixed Tournament early Wednesday morning. 

This was Hellmuth’s first victory since winning the 2007 World Series of Poker $1500 No-Limit Hold’em Event for $637,254. 

After the big win, the self-proclaimed “Poker Brat” tweeted: 

I win!! Feels great to win a tournament, FINALLY!!

2012 WPT LA Poker Classic Down to 18: Noah Schwartz Leads

The 2012 WPT LA Poker Classic was down to 18 players having had 549 entrants. 

Noah Schwartz leads the pack with 1,770,000 chips while Dan Kelly follows with 1,749,000.  Schwartz has won close to $2 million in live poker tournaments to date. 

Canadian Jason Somerville continues to go strong in 7th place heading into Wednesday. 

David Sands, World Series of Poker Main Event winner Joe Hachem and Sorel Mizzi are other big names still hanging in there and looking to make the final table.

Phil Ivey ‘Bubble Boy’ at 2012 LA Poker Classic

With the 2012 LA Poker Classic field dwindling down to 54, Phil Ivey found himself exiting as the “Bubble Boy”, failing to make the cash cut. 

In total, 549 players entered the tournament in hopes of winning the $1,370,240 first place prize.

Other notables knocked out Sunday included the likes of Phil Hellmuth, Vanessa Rousso, Erick Lindgren, Jennifer Harman, Barry Greenstein and Liv Boeree.

Mickey Petersen Wins EPT Copenhagen 2012

PokerStars Team Online’s Mickey Petersen has won EPT Copenhagen for 2,515,000 Danish Kroner (approx. €340,000) after a six-hour heads-up battle against Belgian Team PokerStars Pro Pierre Neuville, his elder by some 47 years.

The young Dane’s victory at Casino Copenhagen – his first major live result - also earned him a stunning bracelet worth more than €10,000 from the Official EPT Season 8 Bracelet Sponsor Shamballa Jewels.

Phil Ivey Returns to US Play With LA Poker Classic: Finishes Day Strong

Vanessa Selbst Wins 2012 LAPC $5000 Tournament

One of the premier female poker pros, Vanessa Selbst, has won the 2012 LAPC $5000 Tournament, beating out 97 other players.

The win netted Selbst $140,295.  To date, her live tournament winnings exceed $4.7 million.  She has had 34 cashes and 7 first place finishes including last April’s $450,000 payday at the PokerStars NAPT Mohegan Sun Season 2 Main Event.

EPT Copenhagen 2012 End of Day 1B Update

The EPT Copenhagen 2012 leaderboard after Day 1B had Mads Wissing on top with 127,575 chips.

To date the Dane has $599,082 in live tournament winnings, including his 9th place finish at the Partouche Poker Tour Main Event – No Limit Hold’em that yielded $143,541.

Steve O’Dwyer and Lauri Varonen lead the way when combining both starting days of the European Poker Tour Copenhagen event.

Emmett Mullin Captures UKIPT Galway Title and €100,000

Emmett Mullin from Omagh in Northern Ireland has beaten a field of 698 at the Radisson Blu Hotel, Galway to take down the first UKIPT trophy of 2012 and the cool €100,000 that comes with it.

The final table took just five hours to drop from the nine who made Day 4 to the last man standing. An aggressive eight made up the official final line-up (Joris Ruijs, the Day 1a chip leader, falling in 9th) featuring the two time UKIPT champion Nick Abou Risk, who wasn’t to make it a triple but exited in 7th place, winning €14,700.

William Vogel Wins DeepStacks Poker Tour Western New York Poker Championship 2012

New York State’s William Vogel has won the first ever DeepStacks Poker Tour Western New York Poker Championship main event in Niagara Falls.

Over 200 players took part in the event.  Vogel is a relative unknown on the poker circuit.

Vadzim Kursevich Wins the 2012 EPT Deauville Main Event (Video)

Belarus-born Vadzim Kursevich has won the 2012 EPT Deauville Main Event and the €875,000 reward that comes with it. 

Prior to this win, Kursevich’s biggest showing was at the PokerStars EPT Berlin Season 7 EPT No Limit Hold’em Championship this past year.  He has enjoyed success since that time, coming in 3rd at the Grand Prix de Paris/WPT Event – Season 10 Pot Limit Omaha – Omaha Cup. 

Kursevich beat out little known player Paul Guichard, who enjoyed his first serious cashout on the live circuit, €557,000.
