UFC Boots Fighter Isaac Dulgarian Over Probe Into Suspicious Betting Patterns

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) mixed martial arts company has cut fighter Issac Dulgarian, days after his loss by first round submission to Yadier del Valle during Saturday's Fight Night prompted a probe of possible pre-bout irregular betting patterns.

KICKOFF260

An hour prior to the UFC Vegas 110 Featherweight bout, the betting line shifted dramatically, sparking widespread suspicion among fans and oddsmakers.

Dulgarian opened as a -240 favorite, but his line tightened to -160 just before the fight. Even more suspicious, the prop bet for a first-round finish dropped from +850 to +475 — a massive swing suggesting tens of thousands of dollars in late action.

Caesars Sportsbook said they would be refunding losing bets on a controversial UFC Vegas 110 outcome. A few other books have since followed suit.

"Mobile customers with losing bets on the Dulgarian UFC fight will receive a cash credit within 24 hours (singles), or within 24 hours of the last leg being determined (Parlay/SGP/Super Parlay) should that bet have won without that leg included."

NCAA Sends Concerns Over 'Integrity' to Prediction Market Kalshi

The NCAA sent a letter to Kalshi, a company that offers prediction markets on college basketball and football, expressing its concern about the company's "commitment to contest integrity and the protection of contest participants," according to a copy of the letter obtained by ESPN.

KICKOFF260

The letter is dated October 30.

NCAA chief legal officer Scott Bearby asked Kalshi how it monitors collegiate sports markets for integrity and whether it prohibits certain individuals from gambling.  Bearby also asks if the company will report irregular or suspicious betting activity.

"We welcome Kalshi's stance on its efforts to protect the integrity of NCAA competitions and to reduce instances of abuse and harassment directed at student-athletes and other participants," Bearby wrote.

NCAA also asked if Kalshi plans to prohibit college player prop bets.

Prop betting markets, Bearby noted in the letter, heighten "the risk of integrity and harassment concerns.

It should be noted that some state regulators still permit prop wagers on college players.  They include:

  • Arkansas
    Kansas
    Kentucky
    Michigan
    North Carolina
    Wyoming
Indiana: Allows pre-game college player props, but not live (in-game) props.
Montana: Available at retail locations only (through the state lottery).
    Nevada: Allows college prop bets.
North Dakota: Available at retail locations (tribal casinos) only

Offshore sportsbooks like BetUS also offer prop bets on college players, but with reduced limits.
