Haiti Earthquake Destruction

Gambling911.com will continue to cover how the multi billion dollar online gambling industry is helping to assist in relief efforts for Haiti earthquake victims.

Sportsbook.com has teamed up with Medical Teams International to help with the relief efforts underway in Haiti following this week's catastrophic earthquake.

The online sportsbook is urging its members to donate to the relief efforts and has pledged to match donations made through its website, dollar for dollar.

"A tragedy like this touches everyone around the world," said Sportsbook.com spokesman Dave Staley. "The events that took place in Haiti this past Tuesday were truly devastating and we want to do our part to help."

Sportsbook.com's customers can make donations through a page the company has set up on its website. Hundreds of members have already made donations through the online gaming company.

"Our customers have stepped up and made some very generous donations already," said Staley. "We'd like to thank them and encourage anyone that can to get involved to help those in need."

Medical Teams International's first disaster relief team, consisting of two doctors and four registered nurses has already arrived in Haiti and treating patients. An orthopedic surgical team departs for Haiti this Sunday.

Additional teams are being assembled and will arrive in Haiti next week.

"We are overwhelmed with Sportsbook.com and its customers generosity," said Marlene Minor, VP of Communications for Medical Teams International. "This donation will mean so much to our organization, our volunteer teams and most important, the suffering victims in Haiti."

A small donation of $33.00 provides medicine and supplies for an entire family during the critical days following a major disaster. A $66.00 donation provides funds for one doctor's clinical work for one day in Haiti.

Anyone wanting to make a donation can do so by visiting Sportsbook.com's Help for Haiti page or directly through Medical Teams International.
