TwoPlusTwo.com Poker Posting Forum Hacked: Passwords Were at Risk

The uber posting forum for the poker playing community, TwoPlusTwo.com, was hacked into early this afternoon at just before 2:30 pm EST.  TwoPlusTwo.com had to shut the forum down after realizing the hacker in question had the ability to obtain account passwords.

Nick Yunis Leads at EPT8 Monaco Grand Final Main Event 2012

Chilean poker player Nick Yunis was the chip leader at the EPT8 Grand Final Main Event 2012 in Monaco.

High Court to Hear Arguments in Poker Pro Phil Ivey Divorce Case

A Nevada high court is set to hear arguments in the ongoing saga of poker pro Phil Ivey’s divorce to wife Luciaetta. 

In an order filed Wednesday, Chief Justice Nancy Saitta directed the court clerk to schedule this matter for the “next available calendar”. 

"Based on our preliminary review of the record and the briefs, we have determined that oral argument would be of assistance in resolving the issues presented by the appeal," according to the order.

Galaxy Plans $2.1B Macau Casino Expansion

HONG KONG (Associated Press) — Galaxy Entertainment Group plans to double the size of its flagship Macau casino in a $2.1 billion expansion as it seeks to win over more customers in the world’s biggest gambling market.

The Hong Kong company said it has already started construction of the second phase of its Galaxy Macau casino complex, which opened last year in the Cotai district.

The birth of Lily Christiana Woo on April 15 may not have been a miracle after all, at least not as it pertains to the coincidental timing.  It all depends on how you cut it (no pun intended).

Sports Betting Gains Ground in California

A measure to legalize sports betting in the state of California moved forward in the legislature but could be all for naught. 

A bill was approved unanimously by the state Senate Governmental Organization Committee on its way toward the Senate floor, but sports betting won’t happen in the state until it is approved at the federal level and this is highly unlikely to occur any time soon.

Did Attempted Sabotage Play Role in PokerStars-Full Tilt Poker ‘Acquisition” Leak

Following PokerStars addressing Tuesday rumors of a Full Tilt Poker acquisition and DOJ deal as something that essentially could not be discussed further, one has to wonder the motives behind leaking such sensitive information to the general public.  The events on Tuesday seem to suggest that PokerStars was perhaps an unwelcome suitor by at least some parties, certainly not the countless numbers of people owed money by Full Tilt Poker.

PokerStars Thread on TwoPlusTwo Gets Over 300,000 Views in Just 12 Hours

What started off as an unsubstantiated post from someone who had never taken part in the popular TwoPlusTwo.com posting forum, ended up with more than 300,000 views in a matter of just 12 hours along with 1855 replies.  

By the time late morning rolled around, some of what was posted began to have legs especially in light of additional confirmed news associated with the subject matter.

Groupe Bernard Tapie Statement Concerning Full Tilt Poker Deal Falling Through

Groupe Bernard Tapie, which was in talks to acquire shuttered Full Tilt Poker following last April’s indictments, has backed out of the deal on Tuesday following reports that rival PokerStars has now purchased Full Tilt Poker and will pay back players in full.

Online Gambling Payment Processor to be Sentenced May 29th

Don Hellinger, who processed payments for a number of online gambling companies during the years 2005 and 2006 is scheduled for sentencing on May 29th on unrelated charges.  It is not immediately known how long a sentence Hellinger will receive. 

Hellinger was charged with the illegal distribution of over $40 million in Internet gambling winnings during the years 2005 and 2006 through a money transfer company, Payment Processing, Inc.  His connection to online gambling only came about after a grand jury investigation into other alleged illicit activity.

888 Revenue Up 25 Percent in 1st Quarter 2012

(Reuters) - British online gaming company 888 Holdings said first-quarter revenue rose 25 percent as more people opted to use their services and gamble online amid an economic slowdown.

The company had 11.3 million casino, poker and sport real money registered customer accounts as on March 31, an increase of 23 percent from a year earlier.

888's consumer segment revenue rose 29 percent to $83 million (51 million pounds) in the first quarter, boosted by its casino and poker brands, the company said in a statement.

Tommy Vedes wins the WPT Seminole Hard Rock Showdown, earning $779,520, which includes his $25,500 entry into the season-ending WPT World Championship. Vedes gets his name engraved on the WPT Champions Cup, and receives a WPT Champions Trophy, a Seminole Hard Rock trophy, and a silver Tiffany card protector.

With the win, Vedes lifetime earnings on the live poker circuit are now well over $3 million.

No Further Charges Against Wayne Rooney Father Following Football Betting Scam Arrest

Wayne Rooney Senior will not faces further charges over allegations connected to a football betting scam. 

The star footballer’s dad was arrested at his home in West Derby, Liverpool, last October along with eight others, including Liverpool-born Motherwell midfielder Steve Jennings, 26, for “suspicious betting activity”.
