Amaya Gaming Reportedly Looking to Acquire Ongame from Bwin.Party

eGaming Review Magazine was reporting that Canadian online gambling software provider Amaya Gaming was about to announce the acquisition of Bwin.party’s poker network Ongame.

Specific details of the arrangement have yet to be announced.

Bwin.party, the world’s largest real money online gambling firm, has been looking to unload Ongame for some time.

Maine Oxford Casino Expansion Under Consideration

AUGUSTA, Maine (Associated Press) — Final approval of an expanded gambling area at Maine’s newest casino is being considered by the state Gambling Control Board.

At its regular meeting Tuesday, the board will consider approving an expansion to the Oxford Casino, which opened in June in the western Maine town of Oxford.

The casino now has 529 slot machines and 12 table games including blackjack, craps and roulette.

It’s hoping to add 10 more table games and hundreds more slot machines in October.

Another Philly Mobster Sentenced for Illegal Gambling, Loan Sharking

South Philadelphia mobster, Martin Angelina, 50, has been sentenced to nearly five year in a federal prison for racketeering related to loan sharking and illegal gambling.

Angelina had already plead guilty last month to a racketeering conspiracy and admitted to using extortion to collect on loans.

Feds Dispute Cardroom International’s Rights to Full Tilt Poker Software

The US Government has filed a response to Cardroom International’s assertion that it has rights to control Full Tilt Poker’s software.  Full Tilt Poker, which was acquired by PokerStars this summer, is set to come back online the first week in October. 

Cardroom had previously filed a Civil Racketeering Influenced and Corruption Organization Act (RICO) suit alleging wrongdoing by Full Tilt Poker and PokerStars last month.

‘Weeds’ Producer Matt Salsberg Wins 2012 World Poker Tour Grand Prix De Paris

Matt Salsberg has won the €7,500 buy-in main event of this year’s World Poker Tour Grand Prix De Paris and the $515,720 that went with that honor.

This weekend’s win brings Salsberg’s live circuit record to just shy of $1 million.

Salsberg is an Executive Producer for the television series “Weeds”.  He has also produced the HBO hit “Entourage”.

Salsberg beat one of the biggest poker players on the circuit today, Dane Theo Jorgensen.

Comparing US Federal Online Poker Legislation to State

There are arguments on both sides of the equation as to which might be better for the player community in the US when it comes to legalizing online poker. 

Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Republican Senator Dean Heller want to push through federal legislation that would benefit their home state of Nevada.  Casinos there want to become the hub of online poker in the US.

New Jersey Ok’s Plan for Mohegan Sun to Run Resorts Casino in Atlantic City

Absent from the Atlantic City casino market for more than 30 years, Native American tribes have recently turned a close eye on the seaside gambling resort, with two tribes taking very different paths.

On Friday, New Jersey regulators gave approval to the Mohegan Tribal Gaming Authority to run the day-to-day affairs of Resorts Casino Hotel and to buy 10 percent of the company. The decision came just two days after the Seminole Indians scrapped a plan to build a new "boutique" casino, citing the poor economy and cutthroat competition from gambling halls in neighboring states.

Philly Mobster Gaeton Lucibello Sentenced to 51 Months in Prison

Gaeton Lucibello, 59, of Philadelphia, was sentenced today to 51 months in prison for his participation in a racketeering conspiracy involving extortion and illegal gambling, announced Assistant Attorney General Lanny A. Breuer of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division, U.S. Attorney Zane David Memeger of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and George C. Venizelos, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Philadelphia Division.

The ex-girlfriend of 2011 World Series of Poker Main Event champ Jonathan Duhamel has had her trial delayed after suffering a beating in prison.

Bianca Rojas Latraverse, who is accused of orchestrating a brazen home invasion of Duhamel’s suburban Montreal home last December, was involved in an altercation that left her face visibly marked.  Latraverse attempted to shield her face upon leaving the courtroom Friday.

UBS Rogue Trader Labeled as ‘Naked Gambler’

(Reuters) - Former UBS trader Kweku Adoboli put the Swiss bank's survival at risk through naked gambling that risked up to $12 billion, cooking the books and lying to his bosses until his "pyramid of fraud" collapsed, a British court heard on Friday.

Adoboli, 32, is on trial by jury in London accused of fraud and false accounting that in the end cost UBS $2.3 billion. He has pleaded not guilty.

The Groupe Bernard Tapie funded International Stadiums Poker Tour has brought on yet another powerful spokesperson in the form of David Benyamine. 

The event, slated to begin next May, is forecast to bring in some 30,000 players from around the globe who will play from the stands online.  The field will then dwindle down to a specified number who will play live.  To date, only 3337 players have registered, a mere fraction of the 30,000 goal.
