The UK’s second largest bookmaker, Ladbrokes, is taking odds on various fish species becoming extinct.
George Monbiot of the Guardian noted that, earlier in the week, Ladbrokes was taking bets on mackerel after conservationists removed it from the “fish to eat” list.

News outlets throughout Great Britain were thrilled to announce the pregnancy of Kate Middleton but more ecstatic to report on the betting frenzy underway regarding the name of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s unborn baby.
Some bookmakers were offering odds on the sex. Gambling911.com has yet to find betting odds on the likely outcome Kate give birth to twins (some have suggested the Duchess of Cambridge’s severe morning sickness is often associated with carrying more than one).

The latest version of the program--titled simply "The Pyramid"--premieres on cable channel the Game Show Network (GSN) on Labor Day, Monday, September 3, 2012, at 6 p.m. ET.
"The $10,000 Pyramid" debuted on television on CBS in 1973 with Dick Clark as host and since that time has been on and off TV in a variety of formats with a variety of hosts.

Chicago is Latest Site for a Reality Pawn Show
Chicago, previously known for the likes of Al Capone, Michael Jordan and Steve Bartman, is the latest locale for a reality TV show about a family-owned pawn shop.
First came the History Channel's "Pawn Stars," about day-to-day goings-on at a Las Vegas pawn shop.
The show was so successful--it's History's top-rated program--that rival network truTV ripped off the idea and created "Hardcore Pawn," about the daily antics at a Detroit pawn shop (it's truTv's top-rated show).
Dark Knight Rises Box Office Odds Scrapped in Wake of Mass Shooting
Oddsmakers at Bookmaker.eu have cancelled further betting on the weekend opening box office receipts for “Dark Knight Rises” following a shooting rampage at an Aurora, Colorado movie theatre late Thursday night during a screening of the film.
A gunman identified as James Holmes, 24, of Aurora, Colorado, killed 12 and injured 38 during the shooting rampage. A 3-month old baby was among those sustaining an injury during the attack.
Many theatres have since yanked screenings of the film following the incident.

Horse Racing Drama 'Luck' Proved Too Real for HBO

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Horse racing has long withstood the deaths of its skittish, injury-prone thoroughbreds. Hollywood proved it lacks the stomach for it.
HBO abruptly cancelled its racetrack drama series "Luck" this past week after three horses used in the production were injured and euthanized during 10 months of filming in the last two years.
The abrupt fall of "Luck," which will end its single-season run on March 25, reveals the chasm between the racing and entertainment industries.
