Poker Pro Sam Trickett Jumped by Men After Winning More Than $10 Mil at WSOP

Popular British poker pro and 2nd place finisher at this week’s $1 million buy-in Big One For One Drop, Sam Trickett, was jumped by 6 men after leaving a Las Vegas club during the early morning hours of Wednesday.

Trickett, a former plumber and footballer, had just won over $10 Tuesday night, the third biggest cash prize ever awarded in a poker tournament.

The 26-year-old was attacked by the men while leaving the undisclosed club with his girlfriend, Natasha Sandhu.  Trickett suffered some lacerations to the face while the assailants spit on his girlfriend.

Trickett posted a photo of his injuries on Twitter and wrote:

'Was having a great day until 6 guys did this to me. Seriously WTF? Couldn't be more angry #cowards.'

He added a short while later: 'Is this what happens if you're successful?

Literally beat the s*** out of me and spit in Natasha's face all over nothing.'

Sandhu later tweeted:

'It wasn't a mugging or anything just over nothing. Sam is fine... gonna spend some quality time together now.'

No money was stolen during the attack.

Some questioned whether the attackers may have had losing side bets on Trickett winning the One Drop tournament.

For some this brought back memories of last December when 2012 World Series of Poker Main Event winner Jonathan Duhamel became a victim of a home invasion allegedly perpetrated by his ex-girl friend.  Duhamel was beat up while his ex and three accomplices robbed his suburban Montreal home of thousands of dollars and his prized WSOP gold bracelet.  Much of the funds and the bracelet were eventually recovered.
