Powerball Jackpot Now Up to Record $500 Million

Wednesday night’s Powerball jackpot drawing could result in a record $500 million win….assuming someone has the winning ticket (tickets).

Saturday’s drawing for $325 million did not result in any winning tickets.

For the 15th consecutive time, no players matched the winning numbers, which were 22, 32, 37, 44, 50 and Powerball 34.

With the added publicity, more people are now purchasing the Powerball tickets, resulting in an increased cash prize.

A single winner in Wednesday's drawing who took a lump sum payment would receive $360 million before taxes.

"According to legal advice received, the value of these permits is unclear and we consider the gambling legislation in the country to be inconsistent with European law," Betfair said on Monday.

For years, attempts to pass legislation banning Internet gambling at the federal level were stymied by “carve outs” for various other forms of gaming (i.e. the horse racing sector).   For nearly a decade, lobbyists representing the Tribes had been successful in preventing such measures from being signed into law.  Their interests were typically in stark contrast to that of other groups like the horse racing industry.
