Newly released documents have uncovered an investigation by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) into a supposedly fixed fight between legendary boxer Muhammad Ali and Sonny Liston.

The investigation accuses the Mafia of having fixed the historic 1964 fight.

Three Generations of One Family Indicted in Poker Heist

A grand jury has indicted three generations of a single family on charges related to a poker heist at Colonial Country Club in Memphis, Tennessee.

Mother Mildred Fioretto, daughter Sheree McKinley and granddaughter Marilyn Jackson were indicted in connection with the Sept. 9 robbery.  McKinley’s boyfriend was also indicted.

Court: Gamblers Can’t Sue Officers in Another State Following Money Seizure

WASHINGTON (Associated Press) — The Supreme Court ruled Tuesday that a Georgia police officer could not be sued in Nevada over the seizure of two travelers' money at an Atlanta airport.

In a unanimous decision, the justices said a lawsuit against officer Anthony Walden could not go forward in a Nevada court because none of his conduct connected him to the state.

Nevada and Delaware Sign Internet Poker Compact Agreement

(Associated Press) - The governors of Nevada and Delaware are going all in for online gambling, agreeing to let residents in those states play against each other at virtual poker tables. 

Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval and Delaware Gov. Jack Markell announced the first-in-the-nation deal on Tuesday. It creates a framework for regulating interstate gambling, and would eventually allow residents of both states to play poker against each other online.

Bwin.Party shareholders on Monday voted a new pay scheme whereby top executives would receive up to 550 per cent of their annual salary.  70 per cent of voters approved the new deal, however, another 30 per cent objected.

Class Action Suit Filed Against Borgata in Counterfeit Chip Scandal

An Egg Harbor Township, New Jersey resident Jacob Musterel has filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of more than 4000 poker players who entered Event 1 in the Borgata Winter Poker Open at a $560 buy-in.

You Can Now Use Your Prepaid Debit Cards in Nevada Casino Slots

LAS VEGAS (Associated Press) - Prepaid debit cards tied to a casino customer's rewards account have been approved for wagering on slot machines in Nevada.

The Nevada Gaming Commission voted 4-0 Thursday to approve amendments in state regulations, paving the way for the use of the cards.

The action was taken with the support of several major gambling companies and Sightline Payments, a Las Vegas-based payment processing business, the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

The parent Nevada Gaming Control Board must approve the technology before the cards can be used.

Kentucky Court Overturns Seizures of Online Gambling Domain Names

A Kentucky Appeals court ruled Friday (February 21, 2014) that the state cannot seize 132 online gambling domain names.  The court determined that a trade organization, the Interactive Gaming Council, can step into the 6-year-old case and represent operators of named websites.   An earlier ruling declared that trade organizations such as IGC and the now defunct Interactive Media Entertainment & Gaming Association (iMEGA) lacked standing.

Harrah’s WSOP Philadelphia Circuit 2014 schedule has been announced and could look to capitalize on New Jersey’s legalized Web gambling market.

This will be one of the biggest poker tournaments to take place since New Jersey launched real money online poker in late November.

The WSOP Philadelphia Circuit 2014 tournament take place April 16 and goes through April 28.

Harrah’s Atlantic City hosted a leg of the WSOP Circuit in early December during the first week of New Jersey’s online poker launch.

Federal Bill Outlawing All Online Gambling Except Poker to be Introduced in March

U.S. Senator Dean Heller (R-Nevada) said he anticipates new federal legislation banning all forms of online gambling except poker to be introduced in the coming months.  Such a measure would ban Internet sports betting and online casinos, the later of which are currently permitted in the state of New Jersey.

Heller and others in Congress have attempted to pass similar legislation in recent years without any success.

Lawmakers Mull Idea of Having Casino in Meadowlands, Minutes From Manhattan

TRENTON, N.J. — (Associated Press) - Some New Jersey lawmakers want to study whether casino gambling should be expanded to the Meadowlands sports complex in East Rutherford.

A state Assembly committee is scheduled to discuss a bill Thursday that would create a commission to study the issue. But the committee isn’t expected to vote on the measure.

Casino gambling expansion proposals have been hotly opposed by southern New Jersey lawmakers. They fear it would destroy the already-struggling Atlantic City casino market.
