Uptown Funk Grammy Odds 1-5 With 45 Percent Backing From Gamblers

“Uptown Funk”, a song recorded by Mark Ronson and featuring Bruno Mars, had odds of 1-5 of winning Record of the Year at this year’s Grammys.  Nearly half of those betting this category (45 percent) were backing the Ronson/Mars smash hit to win Monday night.

The song remained on Billboard’s Hot 100 for a record 14 weeks. 

Poker Pro Found Dead in Amsterdam Canal Had Mobile Stolen

An investigation continues into the death of a young British poker player, Richard Cole.

The 30-year-old was found drowned in an Amsterdam canal after being reported missing late last month.  Dogs picked up on his scent days later. 

This weekend it was reported that Dutch police are in search of the individual(s) who were seen in surveillance video stealing Cole’s mobile phone the night of his drowning.  Law enforcement has stopped short of ruling his death foul play, however.

Nevada Gaming Commissioner Member Resigns After News of Federal Probe

Michonne Ascuaga has resigned from the Nevada Gaming Commission, according to Gov. Brian Sandoval's office.

Hillary Clinton Big Favorite to Win Nevada Democratic Caucus at 1-3 Odds

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was a 1-3.5 odds favorite to win the Nevada Democratic caucus this coming February 20.  Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders was listed at 3-1 odds. 

Though her odds were significant, they were still nowhere near that of South Carolina where Clinton remains a runaway lock at 1-18 odds.

Donald Trump Odds to Win SC Primary: High Risk vs Reward

Donald Trump continued to be the heavy favorite at 1/5.5 odds to win the South Carolina GOP Primary and requiring a $55 bet to claim $10 (the $55 is refunded only with a Trump win).

While the favorite to win South Carolina and seeing 25 of the public betting backing, it was Ted Cruz at 4/1 odds seeing 33 percent of the wagering action.

Early odds suggest Trump is yet another “lock” to win, similar to what we were seeing in New Hampshire.

RENO — (Associated Press) - Nevada’s Supreme Court justices are being asked to clarify state laws on self-defense and defense of others as they consider whether to revisit their recent reversal of a high-profile murder and conspiracy conviction in a 2011 casino shootout between rival biker gangs.

The Washoe County district attorney has asked the high court to reconsider its Dec. 31 ruling overturning the conviction of Ernesto Gonzalez, the ex-president of the Vagos chapter in Nicaragua who was sentenced in 2013 to up to life in prison.

Borgata Refuses to Make Good on $7.2 Million Tax Payment

ATLANTIC CITY – (Associated Press) - By most accounts, the Borgata has been Atlantic City’s golden goose, providing the most jobs and tax revenue in the seaside gambling resort.

It’s even wrapped in gold-tinted glass that bathes the surrounding neighborhood in a golden glow when the sun hits it just right.

But the goose isn’t laying any more golden eggs anytime soon.

The Borgata is refusing to make a $7.2 million tax payment due Wednesday; it is owed more than $170 million in tax appeals it has won from Atlantic City, and the city says it can’t pay that much.
