Steve Wynn on Conclusion of Investigation: ‘Only Damn Newspapers Cared’

US federal investigators are now through looking at a US$135 million donation given to a university in Macau by casino giant Wynn Resorts. 

The Securities and Exchange Commission concluded Wynn Resorts, which has a casino in the gambling enclave of Macau, did nothing wrong and will not be perusing enforcement action.

“We were so sanguine that we never paid any attention to it; we had no exposure. It was a non event except for the damn newspapers,'' CEO Steve Wynn said.

Gambling Nun Gets Sentenced to 90 Days for $130k Theft

(Associated Press) - Sister Mary Anne Rapp also was ordered at Monday's sentencing to perform 100 hours of community service and repay $128,000.

Rapp pleaded guilty to grand larceny in Orleans County Court in April. The 68-year-old admitted stealing from St. Mary's Church in Holley and St. Mark's Church in Kendall from 2006 to 2011. The thefts were discovered during an audit.

Boston Mobster Whitey Bulger Gets in Hot Water for Swearing at Witness

BOSTON -- (Associated Press) - James "Whitey" Bulger (BUHL'-jur) has been admonished by a judge at his racketeering trial after a prosecutor reported that Bulger used an expletive when calling a witness testifying against him "a liar."

Former FBI Agent John Morris was testifying Thursday when Bulger apparently muttered the remark. Bulger stared intently at Morris as he testified.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian Kelly said Bulger "spent his entire life trying to intimidate people," but "he should not be doing that in federal court."

Chinese Online Gambling Ring Taken Down, Bulger’s Machine Gun Imitation

Shanghai police took down a massive online gambling ring that brought in more than US$29.3 million, police confirmed Tuesday.

92 people were arrested in the Pudong New Area for their alleged role in the operation. 27 laptops were also confiscated.

Since March, three people, surnamed Tang, Zhang and Ding, were agents for a foreign gambling website, police said.

Then, Bulger swore, dropping the F-word.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Brian Kelly told Judge Denise Casper he heard Bulger say, "You're an effing liar," as Morris testified Thursday in Bulger's racketeering trial.
