Minnesota the Latest State to Push for Legalizing Sports Betting

A Minnesota lawmaker will introduce a bill to legalize sports betting Monday, following in the footsteps of New Jersey.

State Rep. Phyliss Kahn (DFL-Minneapolis) understands the uphill battle she faces especially in light of the professional leagues filing suit against New Jersey in an effort to try and quash that state’s attempts to institute sports betting.

Judge Puts Revel Casino Deal on Hold

(Reuters) - A federal judge in New Jersey on Sunday called a temporary halt to the pending sale of bankrupt Revel Casino in Atlantic City and scheduled a hearing on Monday on a motion to block some of the terms of the $94.5 million deal.

U.S. District Court Judge Jerome B. Simandle ordered an emergency hearing for 3 p.m. in the proposed sale of the property to Florida developer Glen Straub, who could lose his $10 million deposit if the deal does not close by Monday's deadline.

Tentative Trial Date Set in FBI Ruse Case Concerning Poker Pro

LAS VEGAS — (Associated Press) - A federal magistrate judge in Nevada set a tentative trial date in a closely watched case alleging that casino high-rollers set up an illegal Internet gambling ring in their Las Vegas Strip suite.

Prosecutors and defense attorneys argued procedural matters Friday, and U.S. Magistrate Judge Peggy Leen acknowledged that an April 13 target date may not stand.

The case is headed to a U.S. District Court judge.

Peters, whose best live result to date was runner-up in a tourney in Malta two years ago, eliminated Jonathan Little in 17th place to take the lead and now has 891,000 chips.

Iowa Fantasy Sports Bill Gets Approval From State Senate

PA Teacher Stole Nearly $200K From Union to Fuel Gambling Addiction

GIBSONIA, Pa. (Associated Press) -- A business teacher has been charged with stealing $175,000 he blew on lottery tickets and at casinos while serving as treasurer of his union at suburban Pittsburgh school district.

Defense attorney Christopher Thomas says 44-year-old Edward Maritz Jr. is taking responsibility for the crimes because his "conscience caught up to him."

Maritz is on sabbatical from the Pine-Richland School District.

Campaign for Liberty Strongly Opposes Online Gambling Ban

SPRINGFIELD, Virginia- Today, Campaign for Liberty issued the following statement from C4L President John Tate strongly opposing the reintroduction of the “Restoration of America’s Wire Act” (RAWA) by Rep. Nevada Gaming Board Sued By Crypto.com

The derivatives arm of crypto exchange Crypto.com has sued the Nevada gaming and gambling regulator in the state’s federal court on June 3, claiming it improperly blocked the exchange from offering “derivative contracts that reference sporting events on its federally regulated market.”
