Ifrah, Brennan to Discuss Regulating DFS Sector as Nevada Prepares to Take Action

The American Gaming Association considers Daily Fantasy Sports gambling.  As such they believe it should be licensed and regulated….by them of course.

David Payne Purdum of ESPN broke the news via Twitter Monday:

Nevada Gaming Control chairman AG Burnett has begun legal analysis of daily fantasy sports and welcomes communication from DFS operators.

CNBC: Growth of Daily Fantasy Sports Exploding

(Gambling911.com Fantasy Sports Wire) - Just how much is being spent now compared to past years?

According to the Fantasy Sports Trade Association, the spent person spent $95 annually on Fantasy Sports.  In 2015 that number more than quadrupled to $465.

Adam Krejcik of Eiler’s Research will be speaking at the Daily Fantasy Sports Expo next week.  Appearing on CNBC, he noted that neither of the top two Daily Fantasy Sports companies – Draftkings or FanDuel – have yet to turn a profit.

No More Blackjack at Seminole Hard Rock Casino If State has its Way

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — (Associated Press) - Florida and the Seminole Tribe of Florida seem headed for a showdown about the operation of the tribe's successful casinos.

A five-year deal authorizing blackjack and other types of card games at casinos such as the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tampa and Hollywood expires Friday.

The state's top gambling regulator wrote a letter to the tribe chairman Monday asking for a meeting where tribal leaders are expected to give state officials a timeline for closing down blackjack tables.

Whitey Bulger Attorney Wants Racketeering Conviction Overturned

BOSTON – (Associated Press) - Lawyers for a Boston gangster have asked an appeals court to overturn his racketeering conviction, saying his trial was unfair.

One of James "Whitey" Bulger's lawyers argued Monday before the 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals that Bulger's right to a fair trial was violated when he was barred from testifying about his claim that he received immunity from a federal prosecutor.

He also argued that prosecutors didn't turn over information about certain details of an agreement he says they had with a hit man who was a key witness against Bulger.

Massive Fire at Cosmo Hotel on Las Vegas Strip Engulfs 14th Floor Pool Deck

Plumes of smoke billowed across the Las Vegas Strip Saturday afternoon as a fire raged on the 14th floor pool deck of the sprawling Cosmopolitan Hotel, also known as simply The Cosmo.

An unknown number of guests have been evacuated from the 3000-room resort.  There were no immediate reports of any injuries while damage estimates are not yet known.

"Alarms started going off and it became really chaotic.," a hotel guest from Los Angeles told CNN, "It's pretty crazy over here. There are fire trucks everywhere."

Israeli Men Tied to JP Morgan Hacking Involved in Online Gambling

The Israeli online gambling sector, long prominent and pioneering, took a major hit this week when it was revealed that hackers from that nation had ties to Web gambling.

An indictment was filed in New York against Israeli citizens Gery Shalon, 31, and Ziv Orenstein, 40.  Charges include money laundering, identity theft and fraud. 

Both men are accused in the brazen 2014 database hacking of U.S. based bank JP Morgan.

Las Vegas Sands Misses Forecast: CEO Adelson Says It Could Have Been Worse

Lawsuit Says NFL Threatened Players Planning to Attend Fantasy-Themed Event

DALLAS — (Associated Press) - A company partly owned by Tony Romo sued the NFL on Tuesday over a canceled fantasy football event in Las Vegas that was to involve the Dallas quarterback and other star players.

The Fan Expo LLC alleged in a lawsuit filed in Dallas County that the league intimidated players with threats of fines and suspensions if they attended what the NFL said was a gambling-related event because it was to be held at a facility associated with a casino.
