Revel Casino Officially Files for Bankruptcy Protection

(Associated Press) - From the day it opened less than a year ago, Revel decided to break the rules.

The newest casino in Atlantic City banned smoking, didn’t offer a buffet, turned its back on bus-riding day trippers and focused on the upscale leisure traveler more than the slot-playing senior citizen.

But Monday, the $2.4 billion resort found it could not break the law of supply and demand as it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Camden.

Survey: 79.4 Percent of Gamblers Say Online Gambling Won’t Increase Addiction

$338.3 million Powerball Ticket Purchased in New Jersey

PASSAIC, N.J. — No one has come forward yet in New Jersey to claim the winning Powerball ticket worth $338.3 million.

The owner of the liquor store where the ticket was sold says a couple of people have told the store they have the winner. But Sunil Sethi (SOO’-neel SET’-tee) of Eagle Liquors in Passaic, 15 miles northwest of New York City, says nothing has been confirmed.

Florida House Could Inadvertently Ban Online Poker in State

With news this month of Florida’s legislatures banning Internet cafes in the wake of a massive money laundering scheme, there have been concerns raised that online poker could inadvertently be banned in the Sunshine State as a result

Dinesh Alt Wins ANZPT Season 5 Sydney (Video)

The winner of the ANZPT Season 5 Sydney is Dinesh Alt, a relative unknown on the live poker circuit who managed to deny Dejan Divkovic back-to-back victories at this event.

Alt walked away with $226,320 for his efforts.

Paris Hilton’s ex and star of that now notorious sex tape, Rick Solomon, finished in 9th place after making the final table.

PokerStars Purchase of Atlantic Club Casino Delayed

The world’s largest real money online poker room, PokerStars, planned acquisition of Atlantic City’s Atlantic Club Casino is on hold for the moment.

The Interim Casino Authorization petition has not yet been filed with the Division of Gaming Enforcement, according to a report in NorthJersey.com

CardPlayer.com is reporting that Finnish poker pro Patrik Antonius managed an impressive $1.1 million run on Full Tilt Poker this past week.

Not just that: Antonius is up around $15 million lifetime on the FTP site.

Ray Dehkharghani Poker Profile: Winner of 2013 Wynn Classic Championship

New Hampshire Kills One Gambling Bill

CONCORD, N.H. (Associated Press) — A week after a gambling bill passed the state Senate, the New Hampshire House killed one casino bill Thursday but kept another alive, leaving open the possibility of passing its own gambling measure.

The House overwhelmingly rejected a bill that would have allowed two casinos to be built in the state while preserving another amid debate over the possibility of legalizing gambling in New Hampshire.

14 Companies Apply for Delaware Online Gambling Licenses

While the state may have less than 1 million people, that hasn’t stopped over a dozen online gambling companies from filing licensing applications to run i-Gaming businesses out of Delaware.

Topping the list is PokerStars, which is looking to purchase a hotel and casino in nearby Atlantic City, New Jersey. 

Amaya Gaming, International Games Technology, SHFL Entertainment, Continent 8 Technologies, Stan James PLC, and 888 Holdings have each filed applications.

French Police Raid Christine Lagarde’s, Bernard Tapie Homes

The Telegraph has reported that International Monetary Fund (IMF) chief Christine Lagarde’s Paris flat was raided as part of an investigation into a €285 million payment made to Bernard Tapie.  His home was also raided. 

Tapie heads up the International Stadiums Poker Tour and the purpose of the raid was to determine if Lagarde acted illegally when approving a €285 Million arbitration payout to Tapie.

RCMP Carries Out More Raids, Arrests in Connection with Platinum SB

The Combined Forces Special Enforcement Unit of the RCMP Wednesday morning arrested two more individuals in connection with running what it deemed to be an organized crime-linked bookmaking operation that also has ties to the Hell’s Angels. 

Police arrested Michael Kriaris, 39, of Toronto, and Augustino Valenzisi, 43, of Vaughan. Both face charges related to engaging in bookmaking and committing an offence to benefit a criminal organization.

Broncos Player Quinton Carter Faces Felony in Alleged Casino Cheating

Denver Broncos safety Quinton Carter is facing felony charges after the Texas Station Casino in Las Vegas accused him of adding a $5 chip to three bets after the dice already rolled.  Video surveillance apparently captured the event.
