Fixed World Cup Game Doubted

FIFA has cast doubts on allegations made by a German magazine that a World Cup group game between Cameroon and Croatia had been fixed.

FIFA is demanding that Der Spiegel provide details of all its conversations with convicted match-fixer Wilson Raj Perumal to prove the June 18 game had been fixed.  Cameroon lost 4-0.

Luis Suarez Finally Apologizes for Biting Incident: Loses 888 Sponsorship Deal

Uruguayan footballer Luis Suarez has finally apologized for biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini during a group stage elimination match that saw Uruguay advance but ultimately lose.

The Uruguayans were knocked out in the Round of 16 by Colombia.  They played without Suarez, who has been suspended from playing for four months.

FIFA Stays Silent on Cameroon Match-Fixing Claims

RIO DE JANEIRO (Reuters) - FIFA remained silent on Tuesday regarding allegations that Cameroon players played a part in fixing the results of their World Cup group matches.

FIFA spokeswoman Delia Fischer would not confirm or deny that soccer's world ruling body was investigating the claims, adding that even if it was, it would not reveal that information.

FIFA president Sepp Blatter, met by reporters at his hotel in Rio, said: "Yes I have been told about this but let them do their work on this investigation."

(Reuters) - Poker brand 888 has cancelled its sponsorship deal with Luis Suarez after the Uruguay striker was banned from all soccer-related activity for four months for biting an opponent during a World Cup match.

Suarez, one of the most talented but controversial players, lit up the English Premier League last season with club side Liverpool and became one of the online gambling company's brand ambassadors only last month.
