George Danzer Wins WSOP Bracelet on Way to Becoming Player of Year

Team PokerStars Pro George Danzer has just won the WSOP Seven Card Stud Hi-Low Split-8 or Better Championship for $352,696.  Last week, he won the Seven Card Razz Championship for $294,792.

PokerStars, Asia Pacific Poker Tour Debuts Beijing Millions

PokerStars and the Asia Pacific Poker Tour will host the inaugural Beijing Millions, scheduled for July 18th to 27th.  It is the first foray into the Chinese Mainland market for both PokerStars and the APT.

While rare, a sanctioned poker tournament is not unprecedented in China.

In 2012 and 2013, the World Poker Tour did hold a US$1,500 event in Sanya, on the Chinese island of Hainan.

A Bunch of WSOP Main Event Finalists on Verge of Making Final Cut in Event 32

Since winning the 2009 World Series of Poker Main Event in 2009, 26-year-old Michigan native Joe Cada has come close to winning his 2nd bracelet.  He finished 2nd in Event 31 at the 2012 WSOP and 4th on two occasions at last year’s World Series of Poker.

Palms Casino Closes Poker Room

The Palms Casino in Las Vegas has shut down its poker room on Thursday. 

According to Brian Pempus of CardPlayer.com, the room likely had trouble getting enough cash game players to sustain a healthy venue.

PokerStars.NET to sponsor 2014 Beijing millions

Event sanctioned by Beijing Municipal Bureau of Sports, will form part of APPT

Daniel Negreanu Closing in on Another WSOP Final Table

Finishing 2nd in the 2014 World Series of Poker Event #3, poker pro Daniel Negreanu is hoping to make a serious run in the Event #22: $10,000 H.O.R.S.E. Championship.

Heading into the last day before the final table is determined, Negreanu was within striking distance of the top nine players.

George Danzer Wins 2014 WSOP $10,000 Seven Card Razz Championship

Team PokerStars Pro George Danzer won the $10,000 Seven Card Razz Championship at the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas a few hours ago. Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu was eliminated in tenth place.

This is Danzer’s first WSOP bracelet and tenth cash at the WSOP. Of those 10 cashes, Danzer has gone on to make the final table eight times, which is a remarkable record. He has been in great form recently, winning his fourth SCOOP title online at PokerStars last month.

PokerNews.com Banned From Covering Poker Tournament at Venetian

One of the largest poker news venues, PokerNews.com, has been banned from covering the Mid-States Poker Tour at the Venetian Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas on grounds that it promotes online poker sites.  PokerNews.com was unaware of the reasons behind the ban until this weekend.

The Venetian is run by Sheldon Adelson, who is currently on a mission to stop the proliferation of Web poker in the United States.

Phil Hellmuth: ‘Crazy Frenchman is Going to Cost Me My 14th Bracelet’

Gunning for his 14th World Series of Poker bracelet, poker pro Phil Hellmuth went up against Frenchman Davidi Kitai….and it wasn’t going to be pretty.  Not only was Hellmuth eliminated, Kitai ultimately won the Event #15: No-Limit Hold'em Six Handed.

WSOP No-Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball Fina - Negreanu vs. Volpe: So Who Won?

A handful of big name poker players have made the final table of the World Series of Poker Event #13: No-Limit 2-7 Draw Lowball with the top three finishes all having some degree of name recognition.  These included the likes of Daniel Negreanu and Paul Volpe, the later of whom ultimately won.  All of those playing at the final table had enjoyed past success on the live tournament circuit.

Jonathan Dimmig Wins 2014 World Series of Poker Millionaire Maker

New York State native Jonathan Dimmig has become the latest poker millionaire after winning the 2014 WSOP Millionaire Maker event.

He bested the 2nd biggest player field in World Series of Poker tournament history to win $1,319,587 in the $1500 buy-in Millionaire Maker.

Martin Meciar Wins Eureka 4 Rozvadov for €87,600

PokerStars Qualifier Martin Meciar became Slovakia's first ever Eureka champion after beating a 493-player field in Rozvadov to scoop €87,600. The original first prize was six thousands more but Meciar made a heads up deal with Michael-David Passy and then it took him only couple of hands to eliminate his last opponent and seize even €10,000 left for the winner.

Phil Hellmuth Just Misses 14th WSOP Bracelet Win: Ted Forrest Wins 6th Bracelet

It happened three times during the 2011 World Series of Poker, record bracelet holder Phil Hellmuth oh so close to winning another bracelet before bowing out in 2nd place.

It’s happened again in this year’s $1,500 Razz event, which drew 352 players, resulting in a $475,200 prize pool.

Final table of the €1,100 Eureka 4 Rozvadov Main Event is set with eight players (out of 493) remaining in a race for a€93,600 first prize. Martin Meciar from Slovakia will start the finale as a chip leader, he finished day 3 with 2,200,000 chips after he bust Ismail Kalkan in 9th place.

World Series of Poker Charges $16 for a Salad: Smith & Wollensky Salad Just $9.50

What a mighty pricey salad!

$16: That’s what the Rio is charging for a salad in what is referred to as the “poker kitchen”.

$16? Really?

Lee Davy of PokerListings.com had the same reaction and that’s what initially prompted Gambling911.com to take note of this very expensive plate of greens.

2014 Millionaire Maker Draws Second Largest Turnout in WSOP History

This year’s Millionaire Maker tournament has made history as having the second-largest turnout in World Series of Poker history.

An amazing 7977 individuals entered the event, which featured a $1500 buy-in.  The No-Limit Hold’em tournament will pay out $1,319,587.  Only the 2006 Main Event attracted more entries.

Russian Player Wins $1 Million in PokerStars 2014 SCOOP High Stakes Event

ONCHAN, Isle of Man – Russian player Ivan ‘vandir4rek’ Soshnikov won the 2014 PokerStars Spring Championship of Online Poker Main Event ‘High’ tournament for more than $1 million on Monday night, in what turned out to be a record field of 657 players for the event, easily surpassing the 2010 record of 615. It meant the total prize pool of $6,570,000 was more than double the $3 million guarantee.

Philipp Gruissem Wins EPT Grand Final €25K High Roller

EPT London High Roller champion Philipp Gruissem has won the €25k High Roller for €993,963 at the PokerStars and Monte-Carlo®Casino EPT Grand Final after beating PCA Super High Roller champion Scott Seiver. After the elimination of Belgian #1 Davidi Kitai in third place, Gruissem, 27, and Seiver, 29, cut a heads-up deal and then went all-in blind in the final hand. Today’s victory puts Gruissem at the top of the German all time money list, ahead of 2011 world champion Pius Heinz.
