Years ago, the poker community had posed the question: “Is Dutch Boyd mental?”

“I don’t know. I haven’t had an issue with bipolar for six-years now. I haven’t been on any sort of medication. As soon as I stopped doing drugs and cut out that unhealthy part of my life, the bipolar just seemed to disappear. Sometimes I am frightened it will come back and sometimes I think it’s creeping up on me.

A Staten Island, New York mortician has been convicted of running illegal poker games and could be sentenced up to 16 months behind bars.

Joseph Fumando, 42, was found guilty after a jury deliberated for just 20 minutes.

More Trading Activity at Bwin.Party Raises Eyebrows

As first reported by Gambling911.com on Friday, at least one Director in publicly traded Bwin.Party bought shares immediately after earnings.  Within a day of those shares purchases, the company started to buy back shares in the open market.

Helmut Kern, Non Executive Director, bought 60,000 shares in the company on the 3rd September 2014, just one day prior, at a price of 92.42p. The Director now holds 60,000 shares.

“On the surface, there should be red flags raised here,” a Gambling911.com source following the unusual trading activity suggested.

Remembering Joan Rivers vs. Annie Duke: Poker Pro Mum on Twitter re Death

Doyle Brunson and other poker players have tweeted their respects for the caustic comedian extraordinaire Joan Rivers, who passed away at 81 Thursday afternoon.  In the poker community, Rivers is known for appearing along side female poker pro Annie Duke in the 2009 season of “Celebrity Apprentice”, making for one of the better reality feuds on television.  She also lashed out at the poker playing community, at one point suggesting they were all tax evaders.  But that was just classic Joan.

Trump Plaza Might Try to Keep Betfair Online Gambling Relationship After Closure

(Associated Press) - Two Trump casinos in Atlantic City are in turmoil as the closing of Trump Plaza nears.

Trump Plaza is considering keeping its Internet betting operation online after the physical casino closes Sept. 16, and the Taj Mahal is experiencing money problems.

In a petition to New Jersey casino regulators, Trump Entertainment Resorts says it might try to keep its Internet gambling operation with online partner Betfair going after Trump Plaza closes on Sept. 16.

UK Suspends PokerCent.com License, Service

The United Kindgom Gambling Commission (UKGC) has suspended the license of a small independent online poker room, PokerCents.com.  Service has also been shut off as a result.  PokerCents.com hopes to have its service restored on October 1 once it comes into compliance.

The online poker company claims its license was suspended due to not having the proper certificate.

The Commission was vague in its own statement issued Monday.

Credit Suisse Gives Playtech ‘Neutral’ Rating

Online gambling software company Playtech PLC (LON:PTEC) had its stock reinstated by stock analysts at Credit Suisse as “neutral” with a current price target of GBX 780 ($12.94).  Credit Suisse’s target price points to a potential upside of 8.24% from the company’s current price.

Other analysts, including Canaccord Genuity this past Thursday, have either reinstated or raised their price target on shares of Playtech PLC to a “buy” rating.  In the case of Canaccord Genuity, their price target on shares rose from GBX 825 ($13.69) to GBX 840 ($13.94).

More Poker Players in Sweden Become Targets of Violence

Swedish poker players over the years have become targets of enterprising criminals.  Last week, four armed bandits held up 15 players at a private game in Strömstad.  The victims in this case happened to all be Norwegian.

The robbery began as four masked men armed with guns forced their way into the poker game at the Hogdal Bygdegård farm. Robbers then forced the poker players to the floor before robbing them.
