Tom Seyer Odds Shorten and We Know Why

Our good friend Dave Mason at BetOnline confirmed Monday evening that Democratic candidate Tom Seyer has seen his odds to win the Democratic nomination shorten....Makes sense to us.

Seyer, a self-made businessman, is advertising heavily throughout the USA.  None of the other Democratic candidates are engaging in anything other than television appearances.

Nearly 50 Charged in Multi-County Gambling Bust

Over 40 people were cited for illegal gambling and 8 arrested for operating illegal establishments in a multi-county bust Sunday night in multiple Texas counties.

The charges ranged from engaging in organized criminal activity, money laundering, possession of gambling devices, and operating a gambling establishment.

The identities of those charged were not released.

The Van Zandt County DA Tondra Curry issued this statement:  “An investigation of this magnitude doesn’t happen overnight. It takes persistence, diligence, and the patience to keep dedicating resources to the fine details without seeing immediate results.”

Over $70,000, four guns, and a stolen vehicle were seized as part of the bust.

With the Heat on Monmouth Racetrack, PETA Takes Advantage

PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) used a highly controversial decision to race horses in the heat of Monmouth Park to reinforce their stance against horse racing completely, waving signs and terrorizing small children apparently.

The decision by Monmouth Park officials prompted likely more than 80% of folks to stand on the same side as PETA but, in the end, cooler heads prevailed and most of the day's races were cancelled while the marquee Haskell Invitational was moved to 8 pm ET, a time when temperatures were closer to the high 80's.

Michael Dempsey of TurfNSports agreed the races should have been postponed, and technically they were.  He's also a vocal critic against PETA.  Dempsey summed it up best at the conclusion of the Haskell Invitational:

But then it got really weird as Monmouth Park officials appeared to care about the well being of horses as Sunday rolled around and no big dollar Haskell Invitational on the card.

Adrian Broner Accuses Keith Thurman of Gambling Before Fight

Adrian Broner has accused Keith Thurman of being "crooked" and gambling just prior to Thurman's fight versus Manny Pacquiao.  Saturday's bout resulted in a split decision and Thurman's first career defeat.

Broner claims that Thurman's gambling resulted in him not being focused to fight Pacquiao.

For fans and sports bettors alike, a Broner-Pacquiao bout appears in the cards and should be a windfall for sportsbooks worldwide.

Is It Time to Start Backing the Giants?

The San Francisco Giants have been on fire of late with BetOnline still having them priced at 50/1 to win the World Series.  They just climbed over the .500 mark but we well below it prior to the All Star Break.   The Giants have only four losses in their last 21 games and two in their last 13 games, including one that went into extra innings with a 1-1 tie.

The Giants are suddenly in NL wild-card contention.  Since the start of the season, San Francisco has ranked among the top five in terms of bullpens.  They currently rank as the 8th best.

Our Sunday MLB Play Does Come Through

After a dreadful pick on the Mets-Giants game that resulted in several extra innings with a 1-1 tie that finally concluded with 5 runs, we ended up losing on the OVER 7.5.

Our play on Sunday did come through on the UNDER 9.5 with the Cards-Reds game.

The Reds avoided their ninth shutout loss of the season on Phillip Ervin's eighth-inning pinch-hit home run off Andrew Miller but only managed a single run with St. Louis scoring three.

The last two games Jack Flaherty had started for St. Louis had resulted in four and one run, respectively.  His winless streak coming into this one was ten, although he's not a terrible pitcher by any stretch of the imagination.  Flahery came into this game 4-6, 4.41 ERA.

The UNDER was 27-11-1 in Cincinnati’s last 39 overall coming into this game.
