Who Will BetOnline Oddsmaker Being Rooting for to Win World Cup

12:29 pm ET - It's going to be difficult for our friend Dave Mason to watch the upcoming Women's World Cup Final.  We know a piece of him will be rooting for Team USA but there are also $$$$ at stake here.

He's the Head Oddsmaker at BetOnline and, a win by Team USA means a big loss for the House.

He tweeted out:

Odds to win the #WomensWorldCup and who the house needs:

USA -400 (very big loss)

Netherlands +550 (big win)

Sweden +800 (bigger win)

By the way, Team USA has some value at that price.  A $10 profit will be realized for every $40 bet.

Bo Guidry Named President of Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood

10:24 am ET - Bo Guidry has been named president of Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood.  In his new role, Guidry will be responsible for all operations and management of the integrated resort, which will debut its $1.5 billion expansion on Thursday, Oct. 24.  Guidry replaces Auggie Cipollini, who has been promoted to the position of president of Seminole Hard Rock Support Services.

Guidry was most recently senior vice president and general manager of Horseshoe Council Bluffs and Harrah’s Council Bluffs Hotel & Casino, both located in Council Bluffs, Iowa.  With a combined team of 1,200 employees, the two casino complexes were owned and operated by Caesars Entertainment Corporation.

Guidry managed the two casinos in Council Bluffs for 10 years and was responsible for strategic direction and daily operations.  During that time, he also managed Mid-America Center for the City of Council Bluffs.  Mid-America Center is an arena and convention center complex.

He previously was vice president of operations and assistant general manager for what was then Harrah’s Casino St. Louis, located in Maryland Heights, Missouri.  He also held the positions there of vice president of casino operations and vice president of food & beverage / hotel operations.

Guidry worked in food and beverage departments at casinos in Atlantic City, NJ, Lake Tahoe, NV and at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Las Vegas, NV.  He began his career in food and beverage at the Hilton New Orleans.

A Louisiana native, Guidry received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of New Orleans.

Joe Ewens (GamblingCompliance) to Moderate the Balkan Gaming Industry Briefing at CEEGC 2019 Budapest

10:22 am ET - There are quite a few changes in the Balkans when it comes to the gaming industry and one of the greatest opportunities which can be materialized by the regulated jurisdictions is the closing of the Albanian market.

It happened a couple of months ago when the Albanian authorities in Tirana banned all gambling activities except the ones in five-star hotels outside urban areas. This leads to some major relocations to Montenegro and Serbia by large gaming operators that have been active in the jurisdiction.

Albania is not the only country in the Western Balkans to take a stand against gambling. In neighboring Kosovo, the parliament also approved draft legislation introducing a complete ban on gambling for the next ten years.

While these tensions are not benefiting the industry in Albania, if we have a look at the other jurisdictions such as Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia, we will be surprised to see that there is yearly growth.

At the 4th edition of the yearly Central and Eastern European Gaming Conference which will take place on the 24th of September at the Ritz-Carlton Budapest, the organizers (European Gaming Media and Events) are bringing back a compliance-related panel discussion which focuses exclusively on the Balkans.

Such a complex panel discussion deserves professional industry insights when it comes to moderating and who would be better to take on this role than Joe Ewens, Managing Editor at GamblingCompliance.

About Joe Ewens
Joe Ewens is the Managing Editor of GamblingCompliance, where he oversees the company’s daily output of news and analysis on the gambling market and its constantly developing regulatory challenges. Joe has been writing about aspects of the European gaming industry since 2008. Prior to his current role, he was the Editor of Coinslot, the historic trade paper for the UK’s machine gaming and amusements industries.
