Through her Big Slick Boot Camp program, one of the hottest female players on the poker circuit today, Vanessa Rousso, is hosting a Main Event Prep Camp for players who want to optimize their play.
“Gaining this knowledge and utilizing the effective techniques and strategies to become a winning poker player can require years of experience,” Rousso writes on her website.
The poker boot camp provides a condensed instructional program.
And Ms. Rousso is certainly qualified to run such a program. She has had 40 career cashes, the biggest of which was over a million dollars at the PokerStars EPT Monte Carlo - Season 5 last year.
Rousso was on her way to becoming a lawyer at the time she decided to play poker as a pro.
“I went to the bookstore and bought - no joke - $500 worth of poker books at Books-A-Million,” the one time High School valedictorian told me in an interview last year at the time she had won the EPT Monte Carlo. “I read them all. I love to read. I poured through all the poker books at that time - The Sklansky's, "The Art of War and Poker" - any book I could find. I then had an idea of the basic strategy and started to apply it to the poker table. I found that it was easy to be successful when your applying basic strategies in the everyday card room but I still had that competitive instinct that wanted to take it to the next level.”
