NHL Star Arthur Kaliyev Accused of Scamming Girlfriend, Fellow Players to Fuel Gambling Habit
NHL player Arthu Kaliyev allegedly used fraudulent checks and intimidation tactics during 3-year relationship, all while coping with a gambling addiction, according to reports.
The accusations were leveled by his ex-girlfriend, model Lauren Mochen.
Mochen claims Kaliyev scammed her out of $50,000 during their time together. He would allegedly tell her that people were willing to inflict harm upon him unless he paid off his gambling debts. She says he gave her bad checks as well.
Mochen told the New York Post she heard Kaliyev owed other hockey players money tied to gambling activities
The accusations come at a time in which a handful of NBA players have been accused of taking part in a gambling scheme involving insider information. The New York Post claims that at least one LA Kings player confirmed Kaliyev owes money to some players on that team.
The New York Post goes on to report that sources say Kaliyev owes money to trainers, and his trade would be delayed until he settled those debts.
