The Ramifications of Legalized Online Poker in Delaware Could Prove Significant

On the surface, the potential for legalized online poker in The First State of Delaware doesn’t look like it will have much of an impact.  After all, Delaware barely has a population of 800,000.  Unless there’s highway construction, it only takes a few blinks of the eye before one is in and out of Delaware driving along I-95 between New Jersey and Maryland/Washington, DC.  Be sure to FOLLOW GAMBLING911.COM ON TWITTER as we will be monitoring developments on the Delaware front throughout the coming week.

Nevada Gives Final Approval to William Hill, Others

The Nevada Gaming Commission has officially granted licenses to William Hill, Bally Technologies and International Game Technology to operate online gambling and, in the case of Hill, sports betting operations within the Silver State.

Delaware Online Gambling: Only Church Groups, Harness Racing Interests Stand in Way

Delaware appears to have little opposition in its attempt to pass a measure legalizing online gambling, including Web poker, in the state.  Delaware is the first state to openly express an interest in forming state compacts.  Both Rhode Island and West Virginia have been mentioned at the onset.

Intertops.com Stops Accepting New US Players Unless Invited

While no official statement has been released by Intertops.com, the oldest online gambling site in the world has stopped accepting new US registrants for the time being in all spaces unless invited by other players.  This includes sports betting, poker and its online casino. 

The decision appears to have been made without much notice as only yesterday the following tweet was made by Intertops:

Nevada Plans to Roll Out Lowest Online Poker Licensing Fees (Video)

Details of this decision were not immediately known.

Alleged Connecticut Gambling Boss Denied Bond

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. — (Associated Press) - A federal magistrate judge in Connecticut has temporarily denied bond to the reputed boss of illegal gambling rings in southwestern Connecticut allegedly connected to the Gambino crime family.

Police Arrest 6 in Alleged Female Gambling Ring

DULUTH, Ga. (AP) — Police have arrested six women on gambling-related charges after officers broke up a gambling operation based out of at least two homes in a quiet suburban Atlanta neighborhood.

Gwinnett County police tell WSB-TV they got an anonymous tip from someone who was upset about the amount their spouse was gambling at one of the homes. When officers arrived, they discovered gambling machines.

Blue Monday Online Gambling Defendant Must Pay $100 Fine

On June 8, 2012, software professional David Parchomchuk appeared in Maryland Court to face charges stemming from last year's Blue Monday indictments. He accepted a DOJ plea bargain which saw him plead guilty to conspiracy to conduct an illegal gambling business for which Judge Catherine Blake fined Parchomchuk $100, along with 2 years of unsupervised probation. Prior charges of money laundering were dropped by the DOJ.

Online Gambling Site BetED.com Software Programmer Sentenced

A software programmer with the now defunct online gambling website BetED.com have been sentenced. 

Darren Wright and David Parchomchuk were caught up in a sting operation run by the US Attorney’s Office out of Maryland in May of last year.  Agents with that office set up a phone payment processing company and transferred millions of dollars in funds on behalf of BetED.

PokerStars.es Debuts in Number 9 Position

Just as Revolution Gaming, Microgaming and the Merge Gaming Network had been fighting for the coveted number 9 position of most trafficked online poker networks, along comes PokerStars.es.

Connecticut Gambling Ring Busted

NEW HAVEN — (Associated Press) -  Federal prosecutors say twenty people have been charged with crimes related to alleged involvement in illegal Internet sports bookmaking and card gambling clubs in Stamford and Hamden.

The U.S. Attorney’s office for Connecticut says the defendants include alleged associates of the Gambino crime family.

California Dreaming: Internet Poker Bill Dead in the Water

Sen. Rod Wright yanked his Internet poker bill from a committee agenda just prior to its scheduled vote on Tuesday in the Senate Governmental Organization Committee. 

 

That bill has been sinking since it set sail requiring numerous amendments in an effort to please the state’s powerful Tribal casinos.

Wynn Resorts Applies for Nevada Online Poker License: In Talks With Zynga

Wynn Resorts has applied for an online poker license in the state of Nevada this week, possibly signaling the entry of Zynga into the real money poker arena in the United States.
