The New Jersey legalized sports betting industry will at some point mature.  The sector is still in its early stages and, by most accounts, has enjoyed great success.  Gambling911.com has observed some of the sports betting-related searches originating from the state.

Since the start of the 2019 regular NFL season, there has been a robust boost in search inquires associated with "How Do I Start My Own Sportsbook" and "How Do I Create My Own Bookie Website" as well as variations on whether bookmaking businesses are legal.  “How to Start a Sports Betting Company: Easy as 1-2-3” anyone?  We saw this one come in Friday morning.

The obvious take on this is sports betting advertising and overall exposure in the Garden State is extensive.  Folks see the likes of FanDuel and Draftkings doing well and it seems plenty want in.

The advantage local bookies have in New Jersey is the ability to offer wagering on credit and anonymity.  The downside is that regulators here are overly protective.  They've chased out most of the offshore books including the likes of Bookmaker, BetOnline, Bovada and MyBookie.  Whether regulators go after local bookmakers with the same zeal remains to be seen.

Another interesting search trend this holiday season: Queries for betting on popular NJ-based apps in other states.

Case in point: "Can I Bet on the Draftkings Sportsbook App From Texas".

You cannot.

These searches are likely conducted by those visiting family and friends outside the state for the holidays.

Then there are those great (ahem) New Jersey sports teams.

We're being a little sarcastic (think Giants and Jets, who play here).   We won't even mention Rutgers (okay, we just did).

But it's not all bad.

The pride of NJ right now is Seton Hall Basketball.

Seton Hall is starting the NCAA Men's College Basketball season relatively strong at 8-4 (5-1 at home), but New Jersey residents can't bet on games featuring the Pirates.

We here at Gambling911.com see a surge in search inquiries on where to bet Seton Hall games the 24 hours leading up to one of their games.  This trend will grow come January.

There weren't a ton of College Bowl searches coming out of New Jersey.  The state, home to the disastrous Rutgers College Football program, is not represented in 2019-20.  March Madness searches, on the other hand, should be significant.
