We're still very early in the 2023-24 NBA and NHL seasons, but the collars around some coaches' necks are heating up as their talented teams continue to underperform.

SportsBetting.ag updated its "first head coach fired" markets for both leagues Monday.

It's certainly surprising to see Taylor Jenkins at the top of the NBA list, but the Grizzlies notched their first victory of the season only Monday night in a game where they needed a 30-14 fourth quarter to beat the lowly Trail Blazers.  They were 1-6 to start this young season.

Jenkins is a very liked and respected coach in Memphis and around the league, but a prolonged period of losses, or another precarious predicament for Ja Morant (when he returns) could force some difficult front-office decisions.

Billy Donovan of the Chicago Bulls might have the better value.  He pays $5 for every $2 bet.
