Giants vs. Eagles
Nov 7 2008 - 11:03pm

The Giants vs. Eagles betting odds opened where they normally do in this series with the home team as a -3 favorite. Some books had moved this one down to -2 ½ but that was the exception rather than the rule.

This is definitely one of the most difficult games in which to bet on. Both teams have split in this series over the last 10 and likewise, the home/away record is split. The Giants have won the last two. Philadelphia had won the two prior to that one. Even the ATS record is split in this series. The Giants have won 4 of the last 5 ATS in this series however.

Despite Brent Celek's productive performance in the Eagles' 26-7 win over Seattle, L.J. Smith will remain the team's starting tight end, coach Andy Reid said Monday.

Smith, who has just 12 receptions this year, missed the Seattle game with a concussion. Celek, the team's fifth-round pick in the 2007 draft, stepped in and had six catches for 131 yards, which is the most receiving yards ever by an Eagles tight end.

"Yeah, absolutely" Smith is still the starter, Reid said. "I'm happy to have three good tight ends. You saw (No. 3 tight end Matt) Schobel step in. He had two catches, too.

In two games against the Giants last year, Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb was sacked 15 times. While the Giants are second in the league with 30 sacks this season, the Eagles have done a pretty good job of protecting McNabb, who has been sacked just 13 times in eight games.

Samuel's impact: CB Asante Samuel was signed by the Eagles during the offseason to give them an extra line of defense vs. strong receiving units like that of the Giants. He will have a chance to prove his worth against the team that defeated him in Super Bowl XLII when he was a member of the Patriots.

The Giants will rank number 2 again in the Gambling911.com NFL Week 10 Rankings.

This one can go either way. Be careful bettors.
