The 2009 Super Bowl MVP betting odds will be among the most wagered on heading into the big game.

There are some great historic stats to help on make an educated pick when it comes to the 2009 Super Bowl.

Not all Most Valuable Player awards are given to quarterbacks, though the chances are good.  6  Super Bowl MVP's in the last 10 years were in fact awarded to quarterbacks.

"Should the Pittsburgh Steelers win the Super Bowl, (Ben) Roethlisberger stands less of a chance of winning the Super Bowl MVP than Kurt Warner," points out Don Shapiro of Gambling911.com.   "Warner would be a sentimental choice while the Steelers are known more for their defensive efforts and just happen to have a good quarterback.  Pittsburgh will win because of its defense and Roethlisberger in many ways will be viewed as a supporting member of the team, who certainly plays a key role but not the most vital."

Roethlisberger did not win the Super Bowl MVP in 2006 - Hines Ward did.  Big Ben was being offered up at +175 odds (paying $175 for every $100 bet), Hines Ward was listed at +1500 odds, Kurt Warner at +200.   Kurt Warner received the Super Bowl MVP award after his St. Louis Rams won the 2000 Super Bowl.

Over the last 10 years, two wide receivers, a safety and a linebacker have won the Super Bowl MVP.

Not since the 1979-1982 stretch has the Super Bowl MVP been awarded to a quarterback more than two consecutive years.  There have only been three periods since 1967 when the quarterback was awarded Super Bowl MVP more than two years in a row.

Troy Polamalu (paying $1200 for every $100 bet) for the Steelers and Larry Fitzgerald (paying $500 for every $100 bet) for the Cardinals probably have the best value.

"While I do believe Kurt Warner to be a sentimental favorite should the Cardinals win, I tend to agree Larry Fitzgerald is viewed as the ‘stand out' on that team," expressed Gambling911.com's Shapiro.
