Giants @ Cardinals

(June 13, 2023) - The Giants have improved in recent weeks and now own a record above the .500 mark but they do not have the edge in this particular series.  The Giants are just 4-11 in the last 15 meetings in St. Louis.

Jordan Montgomery is 3-7 with a 3.88 with a 1.33 WHIP.

He tossed six scoreless innings with six strikeouts on Friday in a win over the Reds but lost his prior start against the Pittsburgh Pirates.  He did allow two runs in five innings prior to that one in a no-decision versus the Guardians.

Giants career statistics vs. Jordan Montgomery have 9 hits in 33 against him, none of which were doubles, home runs or RBIs.

Anthony DeSclafani (4-6, 3.89 with a 1.13 WHIP) allowed two runs over six innings on Friday in a loss against the Cubs and was pounded by the Orioles for six runs.

Paul Goldschmidt (.286 with 11 home runs) has been absolutely sick versus DeSclafani, going 17 for 30 (.567) with 4 of the 6 home runs Cardinals batters have scored against him.  The batters overall are 31 of 116 at bats against DeSclafani.

Half of the last ten games in this series have gone OVER the total in this game of 8.5.

We would note that Paul DeJong is the only other batter with a strong number against DeSclafani (.273 and a home run).

St. Louis has only won two of their last ten games overall, so it is a tough pill to swallow backing Montgomery and the Cards here.  The temptation is certainly present.

Baseball News

Chris Paddack Player Prop Bets

Paddack recorded 10 strikeouts over seven shutout innings on Monday in a win over the White Sox. Prior to that start, Paddack was obliterated by the Orioles, allowing nine runs on 12 hits in 5 1/3 innings.

Zach Eflin Player Prop Bets

Zach Eflin has great value in fantasy leagues for the April 26 game against the lowly Chicago White Sox.  Betting on Eflin and the Tampa Bay Rays might make sense if not for the -210 price tag.

Trevor Williams Player Prop Bets

The Nats Trevor Williams held the Astros to one run with four strikeouts across six innings in a no-decision on Saturday.  And the betting public was eating him up at a near 80% clip.
