Ziigmund is Biggest Online Poker Winner in March

The online world of the nosebleed high-stakes cash poker games is unlike any other. In a given session, the common person's life savings are won and lost and with each turn of a card, hundreds of thousands of dollars are at stake. Those who are fortunate enough to be able to play them, and with the guts to keep coming back for more are acutely aware of what is at risk. These games are the stuff of legends. As such, it is quite common for the online pros to experience multi-million dollar swings from month to month.

This is what causes players such as Phil Ivey and Tom Dwan to be up a million in June and down 3 million in July. For January and February of 2010, Cole South experienced the type of upward variance that most players can only dream of, finishing the 2 months over $3.5 million in profits. As he has cooled of as of late, dropping $3.1 million in March alone, it was time for others to step up. As such, March's biggest winner was Ilari "ziigmund" Sahamies. The hot tempered online cash game pro enjoyed one of his finest months to date, profiting just over $2.6 million at Full Tilt Poker, doing much of the damage against the reeling South.

Ziigmund wasn't the only hot player for the month. The aforementioned Dwan enjoyed a profitable month as well, evidenced by his $1.3 million in earnings. Other big winners include "Urindanger" who is up $1.6 million at present time.

Biggest Poker Losers

While those 3 are among the big winners, that means others must be feeding them. The biggest losers for the month are top flight pros:

- Cole South ($3.1 million)
- Patrik Antonius ($1.6 million)
- Gus Hansen ($1.1 million)

As you can tell, all the players on the list take part in the gigantic Pot Limit Omaha games over at Full Tilt Poker and illustrates just how chaotic these games can be on a person's bank account, regardless of how skilled they may be. It's a safe bet that come April, some of the big winners will be on the downswing and vice versa.
