Poker Hater Joan Rivers Detained at Costa Rica Airport

What was comedian Joan Rivers doing in Costa Rica?  Perhaps looking for some of her online poker friends over at UB.com?  That's the website that is represented by Rivers arch Celebrity Apprentice nemesis Annie Duke and they are based in CR.

While attempting to leave Costa Rica, Ms. Rivers was reportedly detained.

From TMZ.com:

The drama unfolded after an airport official checked out Joan's passport and became suspicious when he noticed it read "Joan Rosenberg AKA Joan Rivers."

Joan claims she tried explaining her late husband's name was Ed Rosenberg -- but the official found the whole thing fishy and gave away her seat on a flight back to Newark. Joan was pissed.

We're told police were called to the scene -- but Joan never got her seat back.

Rivers claims she was forced to put herself up in a hotel overnight to wait for another flight out this morning.

We're told the passport situation was eventually resolved and this morning Joan got on a plane -- but as you could imagine ... she ain't happy about it.

We know she was probably cursing out Annie Duke too.

Typical Costa Rican Move

Costa Rica is well known to jump at th wrong conclusions and this is another fine example of one.

at 'typical costa rican move'

I should say that your move is a typical 'American' move on bashing others at the first possible chance........and getting it wrong DUH! Now it turns out that the name on the ticket was 'joseph rossenberg' ...........obviously she cant fly with such name on a ticket Get a clue next time

I Feel Safer Flying Through Costa Rica Than The US

They check through most carry ons as you are getting on the plane, something the US airports should start doing. Good for Costa Rica here. You can never be too safe during these times.
