Nick Petrangelo Leads for Day 3 of the EPT Barcelona Main Event

American pro Nick Petrangelo is leading the EPT12 Barcelona Main Event in to Day 3. He bagged 570,000 to top the 343 survivors.

Petrangelo has been excelling on the live scene recently, especially this year. He took down the $5k NL Turbo for $113,853 at the PCA and also finished sixth in the $25k High Roller there to add another $301,500 to his Bahamas haul. Petrangelo then brought headed to the inaugural EPT Malta Festival where he made final tables in both the €25k and €10k High Roller events for a combined €344,900.

Things didn't slow down when the EPT season came to an end either. He headed to Las Vegas and it didn't take him long to scoop a bracelet, winning the $3k NL Shootout for $201,812. Petrangelo's year's winnings this year alone already total nearly $1.5 million. Known as "caecilius" on PokerStars, he also has a Sunday Million title under his belt.

Team PokerStars Pro Andre Akkari almost matched the American on Day 2, bagging 543,300. The Brazilian WSOP bracelet winner will also be joined for Day 3 by fellow Team Pros Matthias De Meulder (401,300) and Leo Margets.

With late registration closing at the start of Day 2, 18 players opted to join the field this morning including Team PokerStars Pro Liv Boeree, EPT9 Barcelona Main Event runner-up Ilari Sahamies and Dzmitry Urbanovich, who collected two trophies for topping last season's Platinum and Gold EPT leaderboards to become EPT11 Player of the Year.
