HPT Returns to Michigan for 2015 Championship Open

Mt. Pleasant, MI Heartland Poker Tour (HPT) has awarded more than $9 million in prize pool money since the beginning of the year. The popular poker tour and television show will look to add to that total when it returns to Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort for its Championship Open event next month.

Poker enthusiasts can get in on the action when the series kicks off November 13 with a two-day $300 no limit hold 'em event. That tournament has seen upwards of 500 participants in the past. Even more players are expected this time around since the event will be held in a new location with nearly double the space.

The real fun begins the following weekend with the nationally-televised Main Event. That marquee tournament will have four starting flights, the first of which is scheduled for Thursday, November 19 at 3pm. Play will continue all weekend long until only nine players remain. They will take a seat under the bright lights on Monday to play down to a champion. Those who are interested can parlay their way into the Main Event through $190 and $365 qualifiers as early as November 6.

HPT saw a great turnout during their last visit to Mt. Pleasant in July. A total of 505 entries in the Main Event created a prize pool of over $724,000. In the end, Josh Marvin of Sterling Heights, Michigan came out on top, earning the championship bracelet and a $166,565 payday for his efforts.

Since HPT first visited Soaring Eagle in 2008, more than $7 million has been awarded to players at the property. With 200,000 square feet of gaming space, top-notch dining options, and several family-friendly amenities, it's no wonder that the Central Michigan venue has become a favorite among tour regulars.

The resort at Soaring Eagle is home to over 500 first class rooms and premium suites. A full-service spa and indoor pool are just steps away from the ground floor elevator. To book a room at rates exclusive to HPT guests, go to the property's website or call (877)232-4532 and mention code HEART. Guests can use the same hotline to book discounted rooms at the nearby Soaring Eagle waterpark with code WHEART.

Hundreds of poker players ages 18 and up will descend on the property to take a shot at poker fame and fortune when Heartland Poker Tour visits Soaring Eagle in Mid-November.
