Eureka Poker Tour 2015 Kicks Off

The Eureka Poker Tour is entering its jubilee fifth season. The King's Casino Rozvadov is hosting the event for a third time, now being selected for the season-opener.

Starting from February 21, players can enjoy a 9-day poker festival full of 22 events including the €500,000 guaranteed Main Event.

The flagship tournament kicked-off the action at 2pm with more than 90 players already competing in day 1a.
Eureka 4 Vienna champion and last season's Eureka leaderboard runner-up Zoltan Gal is amongst those who entered today's field. Anthony Ghamrawi is also registered for day 1a. The Austrian succeeded in the Vienna's magnificent poker venue Hofburg as well - he finished 2nd in the EPT Main Event there just few days after Gal celebrated the Eureka title. The home country is represented with a couple who has experienced a final table atmosphere in PokerStars local tour events - Josef Snejberg (7th in UKIPT Isle of Man 2) and Jakub Kyrian (7th in LAPT7 Peru) are both participating here today. Today's plan is to play eleven 45-minute levels; the late registration is closing after level 6.

Eureka Rozvadov history:
Season 3 - 421 players, Bart Lybaert from Belgium won for €115,000
Season 4 - 492 players, Martin Meciar from Slovakia won for €87,600

INNOVATIONS FOR EUREKA SEASON 5
There are slight improvements in the Eureka Main Event this year. Players can benefit from more deep stack poker as the amount of starting chips increased by five thousands from 20k to 25k. In season 5, players who bust in one of the starting days can also use an advantage coming with a special Turbo Re-Entry flight 1c. It is a re-entry only flight, meaning only casualties from days 1a & 1b can buy into it. Day 1c has the same starting stack and structure as previous flights, but the levels are cut from 45 down to 20 minutes. It offers another chance to players who could not survive starting days to make day 2 of the Main Event.

GPI TO PROVIDE EUREKA LEADERBOARD
For the upcoming season, the official Eureka Player of the Year rankings will be administered by the world’s leading poker player rankings authority, the Global Poker Index (GPI).
GPI’s unique scoring system will award points to players that cash in qualifying Eureka Poker Tour tournaments, based on the authority’s independent points formula.
With today’s announcement the Eureka Poker Tour joins the European Poker Tour (EPT), UK & Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT) and Estrellas Poker Tour in adopting GPI’s unique points scoring system across PokerStars-operated tours.

GPI POINTS FORMULA
GPI’s scoring system awards points based on a proprietary formula that factors in field size, buy-in and finishing position. Qualifying tournaments are events with 21 or more players and a buy-in of at least $1 USD (or other currency equivalent) that are open to the public.
The revised Eureka Poker Tour Player of the Year scheme is specially designed to accommodate players of all skill levels and bankrolls, comprising two separate tiers.
The Silver tier will award points for all events with a buy-in of $600 or lower (or currency equivalent),while the Gold tier will count all other events across every Eureka festival, regardless of the buy-in.
