Americas Cardroom’s highly anticipated Winning Millions had to be cancelled following a relentless Denial of Service attack during the tournament that caused ongoing shutouts and freezing of play.  ACR confirmed last week they were the latest online poker site to be hit by the attacks now plaguing online poker.

Sunday’s Winning Millions was billed as the biggest online poker tournament of its kind for poker players in North America in over three years.

ACR cancelled the tournament hours after it began 3 pm ET and issued the following statement at 9:31 pm EST:

Creating a fair gaming experience for our members is our No. 1 priority. Due to circumstances out of our control, we were unable to provide a stable, fair gaming experience during the $1,000,000 GTD Winning Millions tournament. Many players timed out, while others remained connected.
Canceling the $1,000,000 GTD tournament was a heart-breaking decision. We worked arduously to bring poker back to America. We labored around the clock this week to try and sustain a stable environment for our players. We should have cancelled this tournament sooner, but we kept trying everything in our power to fix the issues.
We are committed to providing America with the GTD tournaments you deserve. We will succeed. We will fix the issues soon.
We will deliver a $1,000,000 GTD tournament on February 22nd, 2015.
To all our loyal members— thank you for your support. Your continued patronage keeps us fighting for you.

Despite having a hefty overlay Saturday, Americas Cardroom confirmed they had crossed the breakeven point by Sunday afternoon.

"Breakeven with fees was 1,816 entries. We were at 1,900 entries when we had to cancel and well on the way to 2000 entries. Unfortunately, we had to cancel it after such a successful show of support from our members."

The tournament has been rescheduled for February 22.  You can join here.
