With the first three starting days of the PokerStars Asian Pacific Poker Tour (APPT) Macau completed, German player Andre ‘HoRRoR' Wagner held the chip lead with 109,700 chips. The APPT Macau event has broken the record for the biggest and richest poker tournament ever held in Asia with over 500 players buying in and a prize pool of $12,643,000 HKD ($1.62 million USD). A total of 538 players from 43 countries doubled last year's event attendance of 352 players. All are competing for a first prize of $3,540,000 HKD ($453,850 USD) at the Grand Waldo Casino.
Day 1A APPT Macau Results
Day 1A started off with a bang with grand ceremony of lion dancers. 125 players took their seats, amongst the ranks were Joe Hachem and Johnny Chan for the first tournament of APPT Season 2. Andre Wagner of Germany, was the day's chip leader with 109,700 chips. Tom Kerrigan, a Londoner and European Poker Tour regular, was the highest placed online qualifier with 49,400 chips. 45 players moved on to Day 2 after the first day of play at the APPT Macau event.
Day 1B APPT Macau Highlights
The Team PokerStars Pros competing in Day 1B included Chad Brown, Bertrand ‘ElkY' Grospellier and Vanessa Rousso and PokerStars sponsored players Van Marcus and Elton Tsang rounded out the group. Bertrand ‘ElkY' Grospellier began the day by dressing as Batman's foe The Joker, catching everyone's attention and setting the room abuzz. It seemed the clothes and makeup worked like a charm as he managed to survive the day with 15,100 in chips. Chad Brown also made it through to Day 2 with 40,600 chips. David Steicke of Hong Kong who was last season's Macau high roller event finalist was the day's chip leader with 87,700 in chips. Poker pro Johnny Chan survived the event to move on to Day 2 though PokerStars Pro Vanessa Rousso busted out in the last hand of play. After seven hours of play, another 77 players will join the 45 Day 1A group who will move on to Day 2.
Day 1C APPT Macau Highlights
Team PokerStars Pros Chad Brown, Lee Nelson, Isabelle Mercier, Hevad Khan, Elky and Joe Hachem all made it through to Day 2 along with over 70 players who won their seats online at PokerStars. Dennis Waterman, a PokerStars qualifier from the US, finished in 7th with 75,800 chips and fellow American Kevin Macphee finished 12th with 61,900 in chips. Andre Wager of Germany remained the chip leader and PokerStars qualifier Mark Walsh is in 2nd place. 86 players moved on from Day 1C rounding out a field of 208 players set to compete on Day 2 of the Asian Pacific Poker Tour Macau.
